From the Inbox- Carey’s Staff Lashes Out At Yours Truly

This one is from an actual Ron Carey defender who is MNGOP HQ insider/staffer. (It was sent at 2 this afternoon via the Party’s IP address)
You should’ve checked deep enough into this to find out it had been dealt
with a long time ago (the firest time Ron ran for chair). Shame on you for
letting your vendetta against Mr. Carey allow you to be a tool for Mike
Hatch.
This was not dealt with the FIRST time Carey ran, it was kept a secret during the 05 Chair’s race, and became news in the Fall of 2005 after his election. And from the Srtib story today, it sounds like Carey is still trying to negotiate a settlement with the US Attorney. How can you even say that this has been solved “a long time ago” when Carey is still trying to settle this today?
As far as saying that I’m a Mike Hatch tool, well, if the story is true Mike Hatch is in a heap of trouble too as I understand it, as it was part of his job to oversee this Center. I doubt his protege Lori Swanson would have leaked this to the press and thrown him under the bus, especially since he is still in the AG’s office. (oh yeah, I had nothing to do with this, and was just as surprised when it appeared on Strib.com lastnight. )
So next time you take the rumors and Carey defending spin floating around RPM HQ and lash out at me, you had better get your facts straight, and not believe the insider hype that I hate Ron Carey and will do anything to get him out. I know you’re loyal to your boss, but take a big step back, put down the kool aid, and look at the big picture, ignore the ones being sent out on stationary.
I don’t take pleasure posting about negative things regarding Republicans. I wish I didn’t have to. But I see nothing to be gained from trying to hide all this stuff. If there was wrong doing, let’s get it out in the open and deal with it now, and on our terms not the press or DFL’s.
What is next, a similar scandal from with in the RPM? Sorry, but don’t blame me for what Ron Carey may have done, or the Strib and AP for posting.

IF (and this is a big if knowing how these kinds of investigations drag out) your emailer is correct and this WAS settled 2 years ago, we can certainly and rightly as WHY the Star Tribune dragged it out again.

I DO blame the Strib for posting. This is SOP with them– to try to sabotage good Republican candidates within the party. For example, have they missed ANY opportunity to mention that Rudy Giuliani is pro-choice on abortion? Do they bother to mention that the other GOP Presidential aspirants are pro-life? Of course not, that would GET them votes in the GOP primary, and they aren’t the front-runners, most likely to win against the Democrat.
I’m interested in the truth but, quite frankly, I think that the Star Tribune’s underhanded meddling in GOP affairs is a wholly sufficient reason for me to vote for Ron Carey, regardless. The only reason I held my subscription so long was so they could tell me what to think and how to vote. Anything they favored, I could pretty well count on being opposite to the “right” position.

JEwing….let’s not leave Mike Hatch out of this. He has made a career of going after MNGOP chairs. It is possible (as the Chairman’s email stated) that the former AG is behind this smear.
A jaded eye wouldn’t be out of order in dealing with this story, I agree. However, we would be foolish to totally disregard the story out of hand. If settlement negotiations ARE underway, then there is something to the story and we need to know about it.

AAA, why don’t you admit that this is all just a personal vendetta against Ron and you will champion something in the strib if it fits your personal wishes.
You honestly have the political wit of a q-tip. It usually works for candidates when you are brought into the inner circle (Mark Kennedy, Phil Krinkie, next up Joe Repya)
