Democrats Oppose Surge in ALL of Iraq, not Just Baghdad

Senate Democrats oppose any and all aspects of a Surge in Iraq, not just Baghdad, like Sen. Coleman hopes. Sen. Harry Reid is going full throttle to pass a resolution against the entire Surge plan. Republican Senators like Minnesota’s Norm Coleman are trying to triangulate some position between the President and teh Democrats, but I think it is impossible.
The sooner we change the military mission in Iraq, the sooner we
can restore America’s security. Additional U.S. ground forces deployed into
a civil war will not end the violence or bring about the necessary
political compromises. Now it is time for the American people to hear what
the Senate thinks about the President’s plan to escalate the war in Iraq. (Source: Dem. Maj. Leader Sen. Harry Reid)
The resolution Republicans (no thanks to Coleman and Collins) blocked is for ALL of Iraq, not just Baghdad. It is a stepping stone to legislating an end to this war. Senate Republican time and energy should be used pushing a resolution that will prohibit defunding the troops, not triangulating for political survival.
