Dear Congressional Republicans…..

Why are YOU more important than America?
Dear (fill in the blank),
I just read the Hill story that some of you in Congress have not yet decided how you will vote on the resolutions before Congress on the troop Surge. I want to tell you that I will be very disappointed if you vote for anything that will be sending a sign of weakness to our enemy. These resolutions are incredibly dangerous because they will be emboldening our enemy by questioning the Commander in Chiefs’ authority and his plan for victory. But there is far more to them as well.
It is really quite simple when you take politics out of the equation. If Congress votes to say that the President or Iraqi Government have to do A, B, & C or else, the enemy in Iraq will focus on stopping A, B, & C at all costs. When we change it to X, Y, & Z, they will adjust their tactics as well. That is how they know they can stop us from being successful. Victory is not their goal, our defeat is. We need convince them that we are not preparing our departure, and that we are serious in dealing with this threat to freedom and our way of life.
I am terrified that I have the feeling that many members of Congress share the very same sentiment our enemy does. That is, they don’t want us to win either.
The enemy in Iraq cannot defeat the US Militarily or in a head to head fight, but they can politically. We are winning the war militarily in Iraq where ever we fight it, our enemy is winning the war politically in the United States and in our Congress. We have lost the will to fight right here on our own shores. Democrats have utilized the hardships in Iraq to raise doubt with the American public, which is exactly what the enemy wants, and never forget the Democrats only waited 72 hours before they started calling it a quagmire. There is no common ground that can be found with Democrats that will result in victory, and what else really matters?
I implore you to oppose any and all resolutions that will be anything less than full support for the Commander in Chief, the Commanders on the ground in Iraq, and the US being victorious in Iraq. I would encourage you to take the lead in challenging your wavering Republican colleges and Democrats that if they truly oppose this plan by the President and Gen. Petraeus to increase troop levels, take the fight to the enemy, and secure our chance for victory, that they should offer an alternate plan or do what Congress’ only real Constitutional power over the military is and cut off funding for the war.
I am terribly worried that there is no one in the halls of Congress who is willing to stand up for the United States being victorious in Iraq anymore. I am watching good Republicans waffle under electoral pressure to support these non-binding resolutions so they can say they are both for ad against the war depending on the crowd or polls results for that day, while they are out on their impending campaign trails.
Well, the US is at a fork in the road in the war on terror. Either we win or we lose. What I am seeing the Commander in Chief and his Generals propose is a plan to get us closer to victory. What I am seeing from Congress is nothing more than defeatism, political self-preservation, and un-inspiring hopelessness.
I strongly insist that you oppose the resolutions that will weaken our military leadership in the eyes of our enemy, and oppose these pseudo votes of no confidence that are floating around Congress.
Please challenge the political naysayers to put up or shut up. Challenge them to use the only true power or over sight that they have Constitutionally, which is the power of the purse. Challenge them to bring the Commander in Chief in for investigations or impeachment.
But please do not play this power grab game that your colleagues are involved in. We have one Commander in Chief for a reason. We cannot defend this country by committee.
Sincerely,
Andy A. Aplikowskiwww.residualforces.com

I am pretty sure that mine will fall on deaf ears, so please feel free to adapt or forward this to your representatives and Senators.
