Democratic Rep. Keith Ellison was named to the House Judiciary Committee. He made a statement that I think would be good to discuss. (emphasis mine)
WASHINGTON (AP) - Representative Keith Ellison has been named to the House Judiciary Committee, which has oversight over civil liberties, immigration and the courts.
In a prepared statement, the Minnesota Democrat calls the selection an honor and privilege. He says he will work to restore civil liberties that he says have been rolled by the Bush administration.
What are they? What are the specific “liberties” that the Bush administration has taken away that Democrat Ellison wants to restore?
