		<description>I think I can restate your conclusions more simply.  People care less about what principles a candidate espouses than they do that a candidate HAS principles and is able to espouse them in common sense terms.   Theoretically, either party, or any party, could be equally successful under those circumstances, but Republicans have become the "party of ideas" over the last few decades, while Democrats have neither ideas nor principle as a general rule.   A Republican Party with a strong, principled, conservative message can still win, even easily.</description>
