DFLers Running Scared, CD7’s Peterson Ducks Debate - CORRECTION

Posted by Andy on 27th October 2006

I just receievd this from Republican Michael Barret’s campaign.

In another sign of his campaign imploding, today Collin Peterson was caught by Dana Yost of the Marshall Independent lying to the newspaper in an article that appeared in today’s paper in regards to his reasons for declining to debate Michael Barrett in Marshall on November 2.

“It’s no wonder that after his poor performance in both of the recent debates he would turn tail and run”, said Republican challenger Michael Barrett.

The article may be seen here: http://www.marshallindependent.com/include/articles.asp?articleID=7042

In the article, Peterson says that “he has a prior committment on Nov 2 — a farm bill forum in St. Paul that was scheduled three months ago.” “I tried to tell Barrett, that I’ve got a job to do.”

Being unable to find any evidence of a Congressional Farm Bill forum anywhere in St Paul or Minneapolis, Mr. Yost subsequently got Peterson’s Detroit Lakes office to admit that he was really ducking the debate in order to hold a $500.00 a plate fundraiser for himself at the very exclusive Oceanaire Seafood Room, 1300 Nicollet Mall, in Minneapolis on November 2.

Mike Barrett’s office now has a copy of the invitation to the exclusive event.

“Instead of going before the voters of the Sevent District, my opponent chooses instead to rub elbows with his big money and PAC donors that tell him how to vote”, said Michael Barrett, ” I’d rather be in Marshall rubbing elbows with real people. I wouldn’t imagine I’ll meet many who could afford $500.00 for a plate of food. These are the people I plan to listen to when I’m in Congress and I find it disturbing that these wonderful people are the ones that my opponent now chooses to ignore just 11 days before an election.”

What’s wrong Colin, afraid to talk about teh issues?

Correction, this just came in from Michael Barret.

Earlier today I issued a release about my opponent choosing not to appear at the forum scheduled in Marshall on Nov 2.

We have just received information that there actually is a forum scheduled during the day that Congressman Peterson will attend.  Our campaign made repeated calls to many Twin Cities venues and to Peterson’s Washington, Willmar and Detroit Lakes offices seeking this information today and were stonewalled, and told that they didn’t know his schedule.  We were forced to rely on a copy of the invitation to his exclusive fundraiser that evening.

Now knowing this, I am sending this information out to you in the interests of telling you all the information.  I will always strive to tell the whole truth and correct things I may have said in error.

That being said, an afternoon forum still gives my opponent ample time to attend the Marshall debates.  While he will attend an ag forum, it is still not the reason he is choosing not to participate in the Marshall forum.

I have said that politics is about choices, and mine will be to meet with the people of Marshall, not the big money of Minneapolis.

I also feel it important to state that Dana Yost and the Marshall Independent were seeking news coverage and provided me with information I requested.   In no way should my earlier release be construed as either of them endorsing my campaign in any way.

    Mike Barrett

    Get To Know Jack Murtha

Posted by Andy on 27th October 2006

Jack Murtha could be Majority leader if Democrats take the House.

For those keeping score, here’s the running scorecard:

21 REASONS JACK IS SCARED TO DEBATE: HE DOESN’T WANT ANYONE TO KNOW:

    21.    He has voted himself 12 straight pay raises.
    20.    He has voted to raise his own pay from $42,500/yr to $165,500/yr.
    19.    He tried to take a $50,000 cash bribe from an undercover agent for the FBI.
    18.    His “investment defense” was nothing more than a ruse to hide his $50,000 cash bribe from an undercover agent for the FBI.
    17.    He wrongfully accused U.S. Marines of cold-blooded murder.
    16.    He voted against allowing military personnel to assist the Department of Homeland Security with border security in times of a threat to national security.
    15.    He voted against legislation to fulfill recommendations of the 9/11 Commission to prohibit illegal aliens from obtaining driver’s licenses or other official ID cards; to ensure terrorists do not enter or remain in the U.S. through loopholes in asylum or deportation laws; and to strengthen border security by completing the San Diego border fence.
    14.    He voted against stiffer sentences for illegal aliens convicted of violent crimes or drug trafficking.
    13.    He voted against increasing funds to help state and local governments arrest and detain illegal aliens.
    12.    He voted against the Border Control, Antiterrorism, and Illegal Immigration Control Act of 2005.
    11.    He voted against the Secure Fence Act of 2006.
    10. He voted against protecting traditional marriage.

DFL Smear Merchants Spending Wads to Protect Incumbants Like Betzold

Posted by Andy on 27th October 2006

The DFL is sending lit pieces attacking Republicans that are chalk full of the worst lies. Here is one that is attacking Pam Wolf in Senate District 51 in the northern Metro suburbs. (Blaine, Spring Lake Park, Mounds View, and part of Fridley)

    TaxHitPiece1.jpg
    TaxHitPiece.jpg

The claims in this are flat our lies. I will providing proof of that later today, but you can also see her own reactions on her website. The DFL is also running a TV ad on cable stations up here. The guesstimated cost of the ad buy? $150,000 - $200,000 I will be posting this as well later today.

The DFL is terrified of losing incumbents like Don Betzold (DFL SD-51) are they are pulling no kidney punches in order to smear Republicans with flat out lies and distortions. Betzold is in serious trouble. So much trouble that the DFL is paying hundreds of thousands in order to smear his opponent. Minnesota Democrats Exposed also has a series of lit pieces similar to this.

Betzold has alienated his base to the point that Democrats are bailing out on him, and actually now working to defeat him. You may remember that Betzold is the Chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee and he single-handedly has kept the marriage amendment from getting to the floor every time it has been tried. Betzold is also a huge proponent of the Vikings Stadium, which is not a popular decision with many people in the District. Even the Democrats in SD51 are tired of Don Betzold.

The DFL should really be ashamed of itself. And so should Betzold. Earlier this summer he was going door to door and telling people the same things. This is not an independent act of the DFL. Don Betzold has been spreading the very same lies about Pam Wolf too while going door to door in the District. Out of ideas and and pushing policies that no one agrees with, Don Betzold and the DFL can only win by tearing down their opponents.

    # # # This is a reminder that I am Chair of the Senate District 51 Republicans. Any statements made here on Residual Forces or other blogs are my own, and not in any way on behalf of the SD51 Republicans, nor our candidates.

As my first act as Mayor, I am banning all commentary about my spelling.

Executive Order # 001- Thou shalt not dis the AAA over his spelling deficencies.

    Update:
Executive Order # 002- The MOB Mayor’s office shall have a full time staff present. One member of that staff shall have the sole purpose of picking things up that the Mayor has dropped. We shall dub the staffer as the “Official Pick Something Up If I Drop It In The MOB Office Broad”. Candidates for this position serve at the “pleasure” of the mayor and shall be hand picked by the mayor.

    BREAKING MOB Mayor Developements

Posted by Andy on 24th October 2006

Later today there will be a major announcement in the MOB race for Mayor.

My early rumors, and I can’t state how weak my sources are on this, are that Fidel Castro has stolen the KAR nuclear devices and is threatening to blow up the MOB HQ executive bathroom unless Swiftee is crowned mayor of the MOB.

Again, this is early and loosely based reporting, but it does appear that Castro is trying to install a puppet of his as the Mayor. Acting Mayor Fluffenstuff has dispatched our French contigent to negotiate, but, chances are … well he is French. He’ll probably concede our oxygen or something.

Stay tuned to KAR for announcements and foul mouthed schicanery later this afternoon.

And in my usual way of politicizing everything, this is an obvious sign that the MOB needs a strong mayor, not one who just likes the word dingleberries. Vote AAA!

    Update:
I am feeling pretty confident that I have this one locked up. 61% 38% last time I checked. Unless there is some MAWB-squad like surge here I think I have it.
    Therefore….
I am now accepting bribes for cabinet positions.

Have you Gone though you 200 names today?

Posted by Andy on 23rd October 2006

I did. You should too. Park Board tomorrow. Then 200 again on Wednesday. I’m gonna squeeze in a few before Keegs too. Then more lawn signs this weekend.

Oh and not to mention, work, life, happiness, sleep, dog, and laundry.

    What have you done?

My boat is still on the boat lift at the cabin. My new engine is at risk of freezing and cracking again. There are some things that are more important this next 14 days. I made my decision on what is more important, have you?
