    Post F.A.D. Round Down

Posted by Andy on 27th August 2006

First let me let you know I made it out alive.

A big thanks to King, Mitch, Michael, and AM 1280 for letting me sit in today. It is always a blast.

I think I did a pretty good job, I’m sure I upset some people with some things I said, but hey, that’s what I do. We covered the Senate Race, 6th CD race, a couple of local races, and even the State Fair parade.

After the show Enge relayed a message that Sue Jeffers wanted me to stop by her booth. They had heard the last portion of the show today, and wanted to take issue with my statements that if we have a strong state House Majority, we will get fiscal sanity back here in MN. Truth is, it isn’t all that bad in my opinion. A fiscal conservative’s dream? No! But socialism as some have said? Far from it.

I told Enge if he bought me a beer I’d do it. I didn’t promise him anything, and I said I wouldn’t stay long. I did it. I even waited around for her to get there from a parade she was at in Woodbury.

It was a nice chat, and we have now officially met. There, that is out of the way. We did actually talk a bit, but I told her it was all off the record.

    The end.

    Liveblogging From The Fair

Posted by Andy on 27th August 2006

FAD is in full effect. I am at the 1280 booth now. I walked the grounds a bit. I still don’t get the obsession with this place.

I qalso don’t get the obsession with the Amy Klobuchar booth. People all kept making a big deal about the porch. That is all it is. A porch.

Anyways. I’ll be going on with King and Mitch in an hour. We’ll have to local candidates from St. Cloud. We’ll be talking about the Senate race, The 6th CD Race, and I’m sure a few other things will pop up.

So come on down or listen.

    F.A.D. Fair Avoidance Disorder

Posted by Andy on 26th August 2006

I have it. I really am dreading having to go to the Fair tomorrow. I hate the crowds. I don’t understand the fascination with eating deep fried crap on a stick. Sorry. I was born here, and I know it is what I am supposed to look forward to every year, but I don’t.

I hate the hassle of trying to get to the damn thing to start with. Why the heck haven’t they grasped the concept of parking ramps on premises yet? You’re forced to pay criminal amounts to park close enough as to have energy to walk the miles needed to see every thing there.
Then there is the whole finding out where you’re going. I suppose most people, OK, everyone but me just goes there and wanders around until they find something cool or deep fried. But that ain’t my deal. I wanna get in, do my thing and get out alive.
Do I have to mention the close personal contact with massive amounts of people? The maze of getting through the crowds? The cost of everything from bottled water, to beer?

I just don’t understand the fascination. I don’t do the rides. I don’t do the games. If I wanted to go shop for cars, truck accessories, or farm implements, I would just go do that whenever.

So I guess I will jut go and be on the radio. Get in, get out, stay alive.

    Liberal Bloggers NEW Bee Hive

Posted by Andy on 26th August 2006

    Repetition, Repetition, Repetition.

That is the liberal blogoshpere of Minnesota’s standard operating procedure. A handful of them contribute to a bunch of different blogs. Well, they have focussed their hive mentality once again to build a new bee hive. The Minnesota Monitor
So, the ‘progressive bloggers’ have reinvented the wheel. Good for you all. Too bad one of you is too afraid to debate. Ah schucks. That would have been fun. But I guess it is nice to know you still read my blog.

RF Media Advisory- I’m Going to the Fair for the NARN

Posted by Andy on 26th August 2006

    Lightbr1.gif

I will be appearing as a guest host on the Northern Alliance Radio tomorrow (Sunday August 27 2:00 to 4:00) from the Minnesota State Fair. I will be on with King Banaian of SCSU Scholars. We are supposed to have Jeff Johnson from SD15 who is running against Tarryl Clark in the St. Cloud area. And my favorite person, Sue Jeffers, that ought to be fun.

You can listen in the Twin Cities on AM1280 The Patriot, or online here.

    Update:
Jeffers must have gotten scared. She decided she’d rather face Brodkorb than me. She made an appearance today.

    Update #2:
Jeffers’ manager Dan, has promised to stop by if they get back from a parade in time.

    Big Plans Tonight

Posted by Andy on 25th August 2006

I am going to be leaving shortly to go drive around Minnetonka looking for other ‘reformed Republicans’ that may be trolling around for a certain blue state hack journalist to write a nice fluff piece for them. I want to see if a ‘reformed Republican’ looks like what I think they do, that is: prematurely gray haired, horn rimmed glasses, wearing Birkenstock sandles.

Then I will be heading down to Keegans to heckle Hugh Hewitt. He’s in town today, to do a show from the Fair, and then partake in some MOB style trivia. (Did you notice that the weather has been crappy for the last 24 hours? That is how long Hugh has been in town. Huh, coincidence? Me thinks not.

Take This Cob and Shove It #3

Posted by Andy on 25th August 2006

    Talk about propaganda journalism.

Motorists get pumped up over ethanol

Statewide retail sales of ethanol fuel set a record in July as gas prices hovered around $3 a gallon. The state’s 288 stations pumped 2.1 million gallons of E85, which is made with 85 percent ethanol and 15 percent gasoline. That’s nearly three times the E85 sold last July, and as much as was sold in all of 2003, according to the Minnesota Department of Commerce.
Besides high gas prices, a growing awareness among drivers and more retailers selling the fuel are driving up sales, said Tim Gerlach, director of outdoor air programs for the American Lung Association of Minnesota, which has coordinated the state’s ethanol push since 1998.

Go read the whole thing, take a drill and try to bore the memories out through your ear, and then ask yourself, “Why is their no opposing side in this story? Not one person to refute the ethanazi’s BS.

I’ve recently talked to a mechanic for a GM dealer, and he says that current GM cars will not run on the E-20 that is being pushed. Not to mention the fact that vehicles burning E-85 get horrible milage, like 20 to 30% less. That means you have to buy more to go as far as you would on regular old gasoline. So you idiots that think you are saving money, are actually paying more.

And if you think your green conscience will make you feel better, burning ethanol is no cleaner than gasoline, and if you take into account that you are burning more, you are not actually polluting less. Sorry to piss in your wheaties, but reality is a bitch sometimes.
I hope politicians wake up and smell the reality soon. Neither party is innocent in this one, but one side, the GOP, sure as heck should know better. The cult mentality displayed by everyone pushing this crap is scary. They are pushing this crap like it is the end all be all silver bullet that will save our world. When it is actually going to destroy it.

Our farm lands will be too busy growing corn to make food anymore. The cost of food will skyrocket worse than gasoline’s has. Our waterways will become terribly polluted from all the extra agricultural runoff that is created from the increased farm land and usage. So now water treatment will have to be increased, and thus the price of water will skyrocket.

Get it yet, this crap is not going to save us, but rather kill America. It will pollute the land a sea. It will raise the price of food and water. Oh and no one ever mentions that adding E-85 pumps to gas stations cost $50,000 per pump, so the stations will go broke appeasing the ethanazis.

Meanwhile, all this crap is unnecessary. We have exactly what we need to have cheap fuel for our cars. It is called oil. We’re the only fricking nation in the world that refuses to drill for the oil under our own soil. There is all this talk about safety and security if we can reduce our dependence on foreign oil, and to that I say HA! Ha I say!

Let us drill for oil. Hell all you idiots in DC have to do is say, ok, go ahead. You don’t even have to spend our tax dollars on it. If you want to reduce the dependence on foreign oil, let us use domestic oil. And stop shoving that corn cob up our collective asses.

    Anoka County Residents, PAy Attention

Posted by Andy on 24th August 2006

I just received an email from the Anoka County Watchdog that there will be a debate for the Anoka County Commission races next week.

The League of Women Voters ABC and the Anoka Area Chamber of Commerce are co-sponsoring a public candidate forum for candidates running in the primary for the office of Anoka County Commission Districts 1, 2 and 3 on August 31, 2006, from 6:30 to 8:30 PM. It will be held in the Anoka County Board Room #705, located at the Anoka County Government Center, 2100 Third Avenue North, Anoka. The Board Room #705 is located on the 7th Floor of the Government Center. The public is invited. It is our purpose to provide the voters of Anoka County with an opportunity to hear the candidates discuss the issues of importance to them in this primary election.

If you care about the stadium, and your taxes in general, you had better get educated in who is running. I know there is a primary battle in my District. Is there one in yours? Do you really know the candidates? You should!

Ready Set Abort, Life vs. Choice

Posted by Andy on 24th August 2006

Good lord, what’s next? Morning after marriage annulments?

WASHINGTON — Women may buy the morning-after pill without a prescription — but only with proof they’re 18 or older, federal health officials decided Thursday. The Food and Drug Administration ruling culminated a contentious three-year effort to ease access to the emergency contraceptive.

It is not an emergency contraceptive. A contraceptive prevents you from getting pregnant. IE condoms, (rubbers, for the Packers fans), the pill, diaphragms, etc.

This is something entirely different. This is why the pro-choice crowd is so dang dangerous, they’ve manipulated the vocabulary of America. They’ve redefined what didn’t work for them.

You know I watched part of the 30 Days show last night where a adament Pro-Choicer went and spent 30 days with Pro-lifers. One of the segments was her speaking with 2 pastors. When they said life began at conception, so it was taking life to abort after that, the lady got rather insensed. She said that she refused to believe it. That that didn’t make sense to her, and that she didn’t have to think that way or believe them. It was her body, and it was her right to do with it as she pleased.
I did not watch the entire thing, but that one segment displayed the Pro-choice crowd’s mentality perfectly. I have a rather weird take on abortion. I am not one of the no abortions no way no how types. (Which oddly enough worries me if I ever do run for office) I do see the side that says you need a for rape, incest, health of the mother argument. If there is one, I would have to say I am a moderate on the life vs. choice issue.

But I do not, and never will see abortion as an acceptable form of birth control. One of the startling stats mentioned last night on the show was said to a group of kids and yound adults. They said that one third of their generation had been aborted.

That really made me think. Let’s do some hypothesizing here to make that sink in.

Let’s pretend that abortion hadn’t been legal in the US, and no one was getting them. (hang in there Emily’s List types, I have a point here) So everyone that is in your class, or works in your office, or is at your favorite bar is every one who was conceived. OK?

Now pick one out of every three people and eliminate them. They’ve just been aborted. One third of the people you know are gone forever. Just imagine how many people we have never had the chance to know. Imagine all those people who could have been somebody’s one and only; invented the perfect clean energy source; discovered the cure for cancer; united the world; or found the key to ending violence and war.

The next Einstein, Mother Theresa, or Ghandi could have been aborted in the last 30 some years. What gives people the right to decide that just because they don’t want a child, they don’t have to follow through with human nature? Why is it OK to kill an innocent life (or assembled tissue for you Emily’s Listers), but not ok to kill terrorists; or murders; or rapists; or brutal despots and oppressive leaders?

So anyways, now that people can go do home abortions with no doctor over sight, what’s next? Home labotomy kits? Home transplants? Blood transfusions? amputations? Oh jeez whatever.

It is illegal to perform medical procedures with out a license, correct? Isn’t abortion a ‘procedure’? Then why are we now allowing people to perform them themselves?
