What he said

Sphere: Related ContentThe other day we were treated to an editorial cartoon by Steve Sack making fun of U.S. Rep. Mark Kennedy and his political toeing of the line with the president and the Republican Party.
We are led to believe that the Democratic Party then would be the alternative for people who have “independent” ideas, that if somebody within a party voiced dissent on a topic that the Democratic Party would open its arms to those people.Turn to Tuesday when Connecticut Sen. Joseph Lieberman, who apparently would be one of those “independent” thinkers, was defeated in the Democratic primary because of his view on the Iraq war.
So is it my understanding that if a Republican were to protest against the war in Iraq, he would be considered an “independent” thinker, but if a Democrat voices his approval of the war, then he is a turncoat?
For a political party that promotes itself as a party of all voices, it sure does a swell job of eating its own.
