    3 Hostages Rescued

Posted by Andy on 26th July 2006

    CentCom has more good news.

The three were taken hostage by al-Qaeda insurgents west of Zaidon, a rural area south of Fallujah.

    [...]

The three were held captive by al-Qaeda insurgents in a spiderhole complex for 27 days. The hostages were beaten with electrical cords, bitten and threatened with their lives at gunpoint by their captors.

No lefties we didn’t impeach Bush and open up Guitmo so the bad guys can go free. 3 good guys were rescued from the bads guys in Iraq with our help.

Also recovered nearby was a significant weapons cache, including a fully-assembled suicide vehicle-borne improvised explosive device. Marines also recovered IEDs and IED-making material, mortar tubes and round, artillery rounds, machine guns, bulk explosives, anti-tank mines, rocket-propelled grenades and launchers, AK-47 assault rifles, small-arms ammunition and video cameras.

By all means we should get our troops over that horizon so they won’t be so tempted to rescue the innocent and capture the tools that evil uses to terrorize the world.

    Fletcher Campaigning Questioned

Posted by Andy on 26th July 2006

Ramsey County Sherriff Bob Fletcher has had a long hostory of questionable campaign practices. I remember that his deputies were caught in the past distributing lawn signs while on duty. But there is a new charge, albeit filed by his opponent, about his deputies once again working for the campaign while in uniform.

A complaint by a Falcon Heights man suggests a Ramsey County sheriff’s deputy may have been campaigning for Sheriff Bob Fletcher’s re-election while on duty, wearing what appeared to be a badge and driving an unmarked squad car this spring.

Bryan Olson lodged a complaint with the Ramsey County attorney’s office in June, according to records released Tuesday. Both the Ramsey County attorney and the city attorney for Falcon Heights, Martin Costello, have declined to file charges in the matter. In a letter, Costello cited insufficient probable cause.

The campaign manager of former St. Paul Police Chief William Finney, who is running against Fletcher this year, accompanied Olson when he made his complaint, records show. The case file also indicates that St. Paul attorney Alan Weinblatt, a prominent DFL elections lawyer, helped Olson write an affidavit about the matter.

Who knows how legitimate the complaint, but I can tell you this. There are Fletcher signs up all over in St. Paul. Unless I am wrong (which I may be, feel free to correct me) but it is too early for lawn signs. Campaign laws don’t allow signs up until August 1st. I assume this because I got an email from a Hennepin County Sherriff candidate, which is next to Ramsey County that stated that date as the earliest signs could be put up.

    Gates in New Mac Ads

Posted by Andy on 25th July 2006

I love them. “Uh, I’m gonna crash now” Heard it a dozen times in the last few weeks. Ha! I love them even more so because a few PCers I have talked to can relate to the Bill Gates looking guy playing the PC.
    macvpc.jpg
Yeah, take that Gates. Jobs is dissing you all the way to the bank. OK Gates probably owns the bank and sells millions of copies of Windows to said bank. But I still love how the PC looks like Jobs.

    Oh and they are funny.

    You decide

The ‘I’m More Nuttier’ Debate for CD5

Posted by Andy on 25th July 2006

Oh I am so giddy. CD5 DFL

A candidate’s plea for peace got the biggest audience applause Monday in a debate among four DFLers who want to succeed U.S. Rep. Martin Sabo.

“Peace should be the guiding principle of our nation. Peace should be what we are all about,” state Rep. Keith Ellison said

No word yet if Ellison has officially called for the muslim terrorists to get out Iraq either.

Criticism of President Bush was the major theme. All four candidates excoriated the president for what they consider his lack of funding for education, transportation, day care and health care.

Cheesy poofs, free viagra, and late term abortions for every 15 year old with out their mother’s permission.

And the trophy line goes to:

Ellison didn’t directly answer the question, saying that whoever represents the district has to reach out to everyone. “If we don’t hang together, we all hang separately,” he said.

    Keith Ellison

Bush & Maliki, Iraq Press Briefing

Posted by Andy on 25th July 2006

Here’s the transcript from Centcom on the press briefing today with President Bush and Iraqi Prime Minister Maliki.

    11:27 A.M. EDT

PRESIDENT BUSH:  Thank you all.  Please be seated.

Mr. Prime Minister, welcome to the White House.  I just had a very constructive meeting with the leader of a government that has been chosen by the Iraqi people in free and fair elections.  I appreciate your vision for a free Iraq, and I appreciate you briefing me on a strategy to reduce violence and to rebuild your country.

You have a strong partner in the United States of America, and I’m honored to stand here with you, Mr. Prime Minister.  It’s a remarkable and historical moment, as far as I’m concerned, to welcome the freely elected leader of Iraq to the White House.

There is nothing like talking to a good friend to get you thinking straight.

You know that thing before? Screw that.

You don’t like it. Too bad. It is a free country.
