Why does the name Thomas have an H? And if it does, why is the H silent?

Yeah, because if the H was removed you would have Tomas and that is flipping “European”-like.

I think it has roots in ancient greek: Greek letter T is Theta. It is definitely one of those names that just seem to exist in every known language.
