They are "animals" because they have no honor and they do not respect human and civil rights. We must make every effort not to become like them, because we are better than that.

We respect that everyone has the same rights, regardless of their beliefs, and we have the honor to show our enemies greater mercy than they have shown us and the rest of the world.

The idea that there is some "choice" to be made between becoming like terrorists or "just let[ting] them go" is a false dichotomy. We can fight terrorism without taking the easy and dishonorable way out and becoming terrorists ourselves.

"no organized military."

EXACTLY!!!!!!!!

Only organized militaries, fighting for a nation in a uniform are supposed to be treated like prisoners of war. What nations are they fighting for? Did their governments declare war on us? Have they repaid the US for the damages done on 9-11 or for the other attacks around the world against us or our allies?

These animals do not share any rights with those who do not believe exactly as they do, in fact they believe they are instructed by god to kill the infidel, which is any one who does not believe in their god.

You want to just let them go, I say offer up your spare bedroom.

Terrorism and terrorist propaganda, such as the notion that these terrorists threaten to behead every single one of us (all 300 million of us?), should not work so well upon the people of the land of the free and the home of the brave. Putting safety above rights is not only cowardly, it defeats the principles we are supposed to be protecting and defending from terrorists and other enemies.

The British wanted to torture and kill every single "rebel" as well as their families -- and they had the means with which to carry out those plans, unlike our ambiguous modern enemies who have no central leadership and no organized military.

If we all do not share the same rights, what exactly is it we are protecting and defending from terrorists and their desire to tyrannize and oppress us by using our fears against us?

Did they? Was England trying to behead every single one of them? Sure tax them yes, but actually behead every single one?

The old rationalization that "the framers never imagined..." is not a credible argument for the restriction of rights because rights are timeless, having existed long before they were discovered and recognized.

Besides, the framers faced a far more threatening enemy when they fought the American Revolution.

Open thick skull and let some air in there.

These 'editors' think that the constitution gives them super special decision making power over and above that of the Executive, Congressional, and Judicial branches of our government. That is the BS. The media is not in charge of this country. But if it is, they too should be duly elected, but since they are not, their little media aristocracy will have to take what they get when they endanger the lives of the entire nation, just to score political points.

It is agenda journalism at its lowest point that we are seeing right now.

Err, the washington post did not publish this information (at least not until other papers had published). SO they have no decision to stand behind and the BS is on your side.

"But these are risks that the Constitution contemplated and that the Framers were persuaded were worth tolerating to ensure a free and vigorous press."

I love how they shift the blame to the Constitution and the Framers, as if they somehow made the decision to publish this information. Yep, we all have freedom of speech, but exercising that right doesn't make it right. What profane B.S. Have some guts and stand behind your decision.
