    Week Off, Not yet

Posted by Andy on 30th June 2006

I was going to be leaving for a super long 4th of July weekend tonight, but I got roped into something tomorrow. I’ll be driving a truck for Governor Pawlenty in Coon Rapids’ parade. I hope to get out of town following that. I plan on being gone for most of the week, but who knows.

I’m planning on heading to the cabin to get a ton of work done. We’ll see how that goes though. Gary is also out of town, so I have to hold down the fort at KvM flying solo. And given the huge week we’ve had, I’m guessing crap will keep me from not having a week off.

    Clarence Thomas — chickenhawk
    by kos

Thu Jun 29, 2006 at 06:25:59 PM PDT

    American Constitution Society:

[In the Hamdan decision,] Justice Thomas refers to Justice Stevens’ “unfamiliarity with the realities of warfare”; but Stevens served in the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1945, during World War II. Thomas’s official bio, by contrast, contains no experience of military service.

    Chickenhawk? (25+ / 0-)
    No service?  Enough said.

For people of deep faith like George W. Bush, beliefs are intoxicating, and facts are sobering. Sober up, America!

    Hang on a second (5+ / 0-)
Just because someone did not serve does it automatically make it “Enough said.”  There were plenty of concientious objectors, guys who booked to Canada, guys who pulled the bottom third numbers in the draft and didn’t have to go, and guys who just managed to stay in school long enough to slide by.  I don’t consider the less of any of them for that.  Nor does it automatically make any of them a chickenhawk, nor does it make them unqualified to talk about war.

There’s plenty of other reasons why Clarance Thomas is an abomination of a SCOTUS justice (pity Thurgood Marshall trying to roll over in his grave), but to automatically say chickenhawk shut up about war-that just does not logically follow.  I don’t think either of my senators served but I don’t consider them chickenhawks and value their opinions on war and the military.

Now that said, Thomas is a jackass if he didn’t even realize Stevens was in the navy.  It says he’s an idiot, not that he’s a chickenhawk.

I think maybe there’s too much uof a rush to label someone a chickenhawk.  To me, the label means someone who talks tough and then runs from a fight, or doesn’t know how to fight, or knows his empty bluster will never be called out.

And also, “chickenhawk”,  I keep conjuring up the image of the Warner Brothers cartoon character, the tiny little chickenhawk, being misled by Foghorn Leghorn until the little chickenhawk kicks the crap out of him and drags him off at the end of the cartoon.  There’s got to be a better word.

    Oops Rowley Did It Again

Posted by Andy on 30th June 2006

Colleen Rowley may go down in history as having the shortest 15 minutes of fraudulent fame ever, but she isn’t going down with out trying to completely destroy herself.

    Rowley Caught Lying

Burnsville, MN – Attached is a copy of a letter from Congressman John Kline that was delivered to Coleen Rowley regarding a false allegation she is making on her webpage, a press release and her own personal blog.

Coleen Rowley continues to claim Congressman Kline said that he supports placing troops on the Mexican border.  This is a lie.

Her poor judgment and unprofessional behavior continues to damage Coleen Rowley’s campaign for Congress.

That is from John Kline’s Campaign, it also included a letter from Kline himself to Rowley.

    Enough Already Katherine

Posted by Andy on 30th June 2006

It is time to end this little game Ms. Harris.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - U.S. Rep. Katherine Harris doesn’t have overwhelming support among fellow Republicans in her bid to be their nominee for U.S. Senate, according to a poll released Friday, despite her reputation as being a party heroine for her role in the 2000 presidential recount.
Harris, of Sarasota, also still lags far behind in a general election matchup with incumbent U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson, a Melbourne Democrat who still would beat any Republican in the race, according to the poll by Quinnipiac University. Nelson had 59 percent to 26 percent for Harris, virtually unchanged from a month ago.

    BS

Posted by Andy on 29th June 2006

This is a load of crap.

THE DECISION on whether to publish information that government officials assert would damage national security is one of the gravest choices a newspaper can face. There may be times when editors get it wrong, either printing material that proves harmful or withholding information that should have come to light. But these are risks that the Constitution contemplated and that the Framers were persuaded were worth tolerating to ensure a free and vigorous press.

Sorry, but the framers never imagined an enemy like we have today.

Shhhhhh John Kerry Is Nuts, OK Maybe He’s Not Entirely

Posted by Andy on 29th June 2006

Or freaking brilliant and playing the local and national press like a fiddle by getting them to run with lies in order to make him look less like the guy we all remember from 04.

    Dear Friend,

Last night, President Bush appeared at a big-ticket fundraiser for embattled GOP Senator Jim Talent in Missouri. Tomorrow, it’s off to Ohio to raise funds for Mike DeWine, another GOP Senator that we have a solid chance to defeat come November.

The Republicans think they can sneak President Bush and Vice President Cheney in and out of these states under cover of darkness, and that vulnerable Republican candidates will pick up GOP special interest campaign dollars — not Bush-Cheney baggage.

Make them pay a price for this most cynical of political calculations.

Today, we are helping the Democratic candidates Bush is determined to keep out of the Senate. As Bush heads to Ohio, please lend your immediate support to Sherrod Brown, who is running a strong campaign in this critical swing state, and other Democratic Senate candidates battling in tight races.

ACT TO HELP OUR CANDIDATES BEFORE THE JUNE 30TH DEADLINE!

We can’t let the Bush/Cheney fundraising juggernaut buy Republican candidates out of the trouble they’re in because they rubberstamp this administration’s failed policies. The President tries to travel under the radar on these trips — rubbing elbows with well-heeled Republican donors, while the GOP candidates he’s supporting try to avoid rubbing elbows with him.

But, we won’t let their fast and furious fundraising turn the tide in some of the closest Senate races in the country. We’re weighing in with powerful grassroots support to counter the President’s fundraiser-in-chief performance. Two days ago, we got off to a good start, helping Sherrod Brown in Ohio, Claire McCaskill in Missouri and Maria Cantwell in Washington state.

Today we’re adding Senator Bob Menendez of New Jersey to the list of strong Democrats who need our support. In March, Cheney came to the Garden State to raise money for Menendez’s Republican opponent, handpicked by Karl Rove, who offered rush-hour traffic as his excuse for arriving late and missing a photo-op with the Vice President.

Menendez is currently fighting back against a ruthless smear attack distorting his courageous actions from 25 years ago. Let’s show him and Democrats around the country that we refuse to let any of our public servants be subjected to outrageous lies for partisan political gain.

With the June 30th deadline fast approaching, we need to step up our efforts to give Democrats the resources they need to fight back and win.

ACT TO HELP OUR CANDIDATES BEFORE THE JUNE 30TH DEADLINE!

This is a critical test of our resolve. The Bush Republicans would like nothing better than to set our candidates back by burying them under an avalanche of Republican special interest money and distortions. But, we won’t let it happen. We’re standing by our candidates through thick and thin, and we’re driving through to victory.

I urge you to do everything you can to impact these important Senate races. Let’s show the Bush fundraising machine that we mean business.

    Sincerely,

    John Kerry

I am going on a covert op over lunch here, so I’ll try to get to dismembering this later today. Just thought everyone would like to see how the media sounds pretty much just like the Democrats right now.

The Lie Heard Round The World

Posted by Andy on 29th June 2006

Oh gee, look, Liberals lie, and it is taken as news.

If you haven’t noticed, a couple of young liberal local bloggers decided earlier this week made the claim that Mark Kennedy had purged all references to Bush from his website(s). Now we’ve proven this to be false, and if you can operate a mouse and a browser, you can too. There are still tons of Bush pics and references on both his websites.

But the main down stream media, both local and national now, have run with the lie. I’m not surprised. I am one of the people that knows that the polls the media does are patently false and biased. I believe Mark Kennedy is going to win this race, not because he is a Republican, but because he is the better candidate. I think if there was a truly fair poll done in a way to give an actual fair representation of the public, Kennedy would be ahead. In my opinion asking 500 people to speak for 5 million is not nearly a big enough representation to be taken seriously. But the media loves them because they can twist them into the Democrats being so far ahead.

This new lie from a partisan and suspect source, is just icing on the cake for the biased media. They know the polls are wrong, so they must open the wounds even deeper. And if that means they have to run with lies, so be it.

But the media has to run with this lie. Of course to anyone with a brainstem, knows the story is how 2 die hard Amy Klobuchar supporters have resorted to sabotaging Kennedy supporters blogs, and MAKING UP LIES in order to damage Kennedy’s image. In the case of this lie, it is sooooooooo easy to prove wrong that at first I thought it was a joke. But given the fact that a lie will travel the globe before the truth gets its boots on, I’m not surprised.

But in this case, the truth was laced up and ready to go with in minutes. There is only one explanation to this. The media is biased and wanted the story to be true. I know I say it all the time, but here is a perfect example of it. They are running with a lie as the truth. Just like the National Guard story with Bush, the media will push this story to the forefront, run it over and over. Eventhough they know it is a lie.

The media is treading on very thin ice here. They have a serious choice to make. Report the news, honestly and fairly, or continue to be the partisan hacks shilling for their friends and allies on the left. They have played a huge role in destroying the lives and careers of many a Republicans over the years. In this case, they took a clear lie and have used it to try to smear the honorable record of a US Congressman.

People always wonder why politics has to be so nasty. It is because, people like these 2 liberal bloggers resort to lies, crude photo shops, and name calling to damage the reputation of a good man and a fine Congressman. The problem is, that the media takes their lies and fraudulent accusations and runs them as breaking news and fact. That is why people hate politics.

The Democrats will do and say anything they have to in order to win. They will smear anyone that stands between them and the power they so desperately crave. They will not be held to any level of human decency to at the very least, be honest. And the media is their all too willing mouth piece. Spreading their lies, farther and faster than even all of George Soros’ billions could with ad buys and armies of paid lit dropping volunteers.

A lie spread by the media with the sole purpose of destroying Mark Kennedy’s chances. Shame on them. This isn’t even a good lie.

I think this might be worth a call for canceling your Strib subscriptions, since they were the ones who first ran this lie.

    Call them and cancel today!

What Nations Are We Fighting Then

Posted by Andy on 29th June 2006

If the Guitmo detainees are going to be granted the rights under the Geneva Convention, I deserve to know what nation they are fighting for.

I expect reparations from their governments for the damage done on September 11th. I expect the World Community to hold those nations accountable and punish them for conducting an illegal and unjustified war. I expect the governments of these nations be held accountable for the murder of thousands of civilians.

By granting these people these rights, America should be granted the right of knowing what nations it is that we are fighting. The problem with this ruling is that these people are not in the uniform of a country. They are not fighting under a flag. Therefor, they should not be granted the rights and priviledges that the typical enemy should. Names, ranks, and serial numbers should be demanded.
This is a travesty to our nation. The Supreme Court screwed the pooch, big time.

Way to go, you may have just lost the war for us. The next Mohamed Atta may be released from our grasp, hijack more planes and fly them in to buildings in American cities now, because of the Supreme Court.

    Shame
