Un oh Democrats, you got corruption too!
Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., accepted free ringside tickets from the Nevada Athletic Commission to three professional boxing matches while that agency was trying to influence him on federal regulation of boxing, the Associated Press reported. The tickets were worth several hundred to several thousand dollars each.
Reid took the seats for Las Vegas fights in 2003-05 as he was pressing legislation to increase government oversight of the sport, including the creation of a federal boxing commission that Nevada’s agency feared might usurp its authority.
Ha ha, there goes your entire election message. Time to go back to …. um…. well, I’m sure you’ll come up with something solid.

Remember Col. Joe Repya? Strib
On this Memorial Day I encourage all Minnesotans to refrain from political discourse for just one day and pay respect and honor to those Americans who have served and fallen in our nation’s conflicts. Let’s all acknowledge the ultimate sacrifice paid by those in service to our great nation, and let us pay tribute to their families and loved ones.
JOE REPYA, EAGAN
Too bad some DFL politicians didn’t see this in time to avoid politicizing Memorial day.

Someone just emailed me about a country artist (ok all you hair band freaks, laugh it up) that they thought I’d like. Luke Stricklin
America By God’s Amazing Grace
If you go to his website, you can listen to 4 songs. All of them have very pro-military, pro-iraq messages.
Sorry Ditzy Chix, not your kinda ‘country’ music.

Michael Brodkorb, aka MDE, composed a letter to fellow Republicans who will be attending the Convention this week.

We have a campaign team comprised of the best and the brightest of the best and
brightest in our state party leadership. Leaders like Ron Carey, Eric Hoplin, Tony Sutton,
Ben Golnik and others have prepared us for victory. Each of them deserves our thanks
and admiration.
What they don’t need and don’t deserve (and neither do any of us as activists in this
party) is a selfpromoting publicity stunt on our time by a member of a competing
political party.
You may have heard that a rogue candidate of a different political party will seek to use
our convention as a platform to stage a publicity stunt to kick start her failing campaign
for governor.

SUE JEFFERS AND THE LIBERTARIAN PARTY OF MINNESOTA
Ms. Jeffers now claims “I am a Republican”, yet a month ago, Jeffers said “I will always be a Libertarian…” Ms. Jeffers’ assertion of being a Republican should be treated as if Mike Hatch suddenly claimed he was a Republican.
Consider the facts about Ms. Jeffers:
He’s also put up a head to head of Jeffers/Libertarian positions vs. the Republican’s.
It is also worth repeating that Sue Jeffers chose not to run as a Republican for the State Senate after she found out that Republican activists in the area would not be happy with a candidate whose only campaign message was “Pawlenty sucks”.
She claims to be a longtime Republican, but her name has not appeared on a single Precinct Caucus attendance list in New Brighton for at least 6 years.

The House Republicans may actually get it on immigration.
WASHINGTON — The Senate plan to provide illegal immigrants with a shot at citizenship probably is a deal-breaker that will prevent passage of a compromise on immigration overhaul, the House’s lead negotiator said today.
“The words ‘path to citizenship’ is a buzzword for amnesty. We ought to be honest, it is amnesty,” said Rep. James Sensenbrenner, chairman of the House Judiciary Committee.
The Senate bill passed last week would tighten border security, offer a guest worker programs to bring in new foreign workers and provide a chance at citizenship for millions of illegal immigrants already in the country.
Correct me if I am wrong, but non-US citizens do have the opportunity to become citizens already. Isn’t it called immigration. And doesn’t it have a process set up for them to be here legally?
Sen. Chuck Hagel, R-Neb., said the Senate took a comprehensive approach to dealing with illegal immigration and he took issue with Sensenbrenner’s characterization of the Senate’s approach.
“Amnesty. That’s nonsense,” Hagel said.
No, you not seeing it is Amnesty is non-sense.
Hagel said the Senate bill would require all immigrant workers to have a tamperproof identification card. They would not be allowed to get a job without it. He said the United States cannot ignore their existence by just focusing on border security.
Um, Mr. Hagel, there are 11 million people who already ignored the requirements and and laws to get into our country. What possibly makes you believe that they will now, all of a sudden, follow your new amnesty rules.
“To just walk away from it and say, ‘Well we’re going to enforce our borders first and then maybe we’ll get to the rest of it,’ we fail the American public,” Hagel said.
No, Mr. Hagel, to give the privilege of being an American to someone who stole it in the first place would be failing the American public.
America is America’s, yes we welcome people to join our family, but we do not owe each and everyone of them a place at the table.
We are either a Nation that believes in the rule of law, or not. Rewriting a law to forgive a particular part of society for political purposes is down right and abuse of power.

So it was a pretty lame weekend for me. I was on-call for work, so I was trapped in the Twin Cities. But hey, I would have been miserable at the cabin, since it has no AC. So I guess it worked out ok. Except that I had planned on getting my yard cleaned up from the 4 trees I had cut down 2 weeks ago. I did do some yard work Saturday morning, but oh lordy, she was hot.
I settled for a nap and an appearance on the NARN with Mitch, Captain Ed, and MDE. That night, I went and had drinks with Jules, my com-padre from KvM & BvW, and her German hubby. It was a fun night right up until the Jag bomb. oooooofffftttttaaaa
Sunday was pretty lame too. I kinda pittered around the house most of the day. I went over to ma’s for a BBQ with my family. I did a few odd jobs for her while I was there. Good meal. etc etc. I got to hang out with the local nieces and nephews. Fun fun.
Around noon yesterday, my blog was hit with a hacker attack. It was down most of the day, and I feared the worst. There is always a fear that all of your files and archives have been deleted when this happens. Thanks to the super duper service of my host, all was well by midnight or so.
Well today I woke up and decided it was time to get something done. I ran to Ma’s to check on a couple other tasks there. One of which was getting her a new TV for the kitchen. No big task, just a TV I thought. So I ran to Best Buy and found one that was just right. Flat screen, small, with built in DVD. Problem was that the closest one is in Grand Forks. Well, while I was there, I browsed a bit for my own sake, and that was trouble.
But Mom first, well, after blowing a few hundred at HOM Furniture for a couple new tables for the living room. OK, back to Mom. I ran to Target to see if the TV in the ad was any good. No surprise, electronics at Target, not as good as they look in the ads.
So, I decided to run home to let the dog out and then run to pick up my tables in Coon Rapids. Then I ran to an old family friends TV shop that has always been a big help in the past. Well, they were the one store that decided to not be open today. So… Off to Circuit City to find the exact same crappy TV that was at Target.
Well I was starting to get to the point where I say screw it and go get the TV I wanted for my own and tell Ma that I had to order one for her. But then I drove past Ultimate Electronics and swung in. They had a TV that was perfect for my Ma. Mission accomplished!
But hey, I thought to myself, I had already bought myself a fancy schmancy table to put a brand new flat screen TV on. Well, while I’m here, I thought. So yeah, I did it. Right now I am sitting in my newly rearranged living room that now has a new fancy coffee table, HDTV flat screen with DVD-R (and such and such), just watching a movie typing away. I gotta say that the picture is fantastic!
So that was pretty much it. Not an exciting weekend. But I did get some housework done. Hung with the fam and a friend or 2. Got a new TV where I can now blog on the couch, with the doggy next too me. Which, he has finally caught on to, and is now sound a sleep curled up next to me.

This is a test for lefties. Try to get all worked up over this.
Fox was blindfolded, beaten, thrown in a car trunk and held in solitary confinement during his 15 days in captivity.
Now, Cheney didn’t kidnap the President of Mexico, settle down. Go read the story, and then, you had better get as outraged as you do when you hear the crap about our soldiers.

Murtha’s just not gonna stop until he demoralizes the entire military and makes the country loathe men in uniform like back during the Viet Nam era, is he? Star Tribune
WASHINGTON (AP) - The fallout from the killing of as many as two dozen Iraqi civilians by Marines could undermine U.S. efforts in Iraq more than the Abu Ghraib prison scandal did, a lawmaker who is a prominent war critic said Sunday.
Let’s not forget that just last week it was Murtha who prejudged the Marines involved in the incident. It was Murtha who convicted the men even before a court martial was called.
“Who covered it up, why did they cover it up, why did they wait so long?” Murtha said on “This Week” on ABC. “We don’t know how far it goes. It goes right up the chain of command.”
Get ready for an all out media assault on Bush and the Pentagon this week. They are salivating over the chances of impeaching Bush, and this is exactly the kind of political ammunition to get it done. As far Murtha and the media are concerned, these Marines are guilty, and Bush is to blame.
