Way Wrong Attitude, but Can You Blame ‘em

Posted by Andy on 31st May 2006

    I just got this email.

I guess I am not welcome anymore at the conservative table since I supported the Twins Stadium and am a conservative.  Best of Luck and I will be saving my money and my time since I am not pure enough to be part of the party anymore.

That is exactly what this new attitude of all or nothing will cause if people continue to attack any Republican who dares stray from the rigid Party platform.

If we cannot disagree on any issue, what does that say about our chances? Not good.

Biggest crock of bull the DFl has spun in a while

Posted by Andy on 31st May 2006

The DFLers site gives me much happiness. Everyday I can go there and find something extremely devoid of reality to post on. Take this one today. Pawlenty - “Most Polarizing Governor in America”

That’s the quote from today’s St. Paul Pioneer Press. A recent study of polls across all 50 states showed Pawlenty elicited the greatest partisan response of any governor in America, as reflected in job approval rates. While 80% of Republican voters approved of Pawlenty’s job performance, the number drops to 27% among Democrats, a staggering 53-point disparity.
Minnesota has always been a state built on pragmatism, not ideology. It is state where, until recently, Republicans and Democrats still got along and worked together for the betterment of Minnesota. The governor’s decision to pander to his base constitutes an abandonment of this fundamental principle. The good news? This November voters have an opportunity to reject Pawlenty’s divisive political projects and elect someone who will govern through compromise and consensus.

And let me respond to that by saying that Pawlenty still has a 51% approval rating. So who is out of the mainstream, the 80% who agree with the 51% or teh 27% that disagree with the 51%?
The rest of the pap will have to wait until later tonight. (after a few cocktails  )

    Thank Murtha

Posted by Andy on 31st May 2006

There is a group out there, U.S. Labor Against the War that is so against war that they want to have people send a man most noteably known for besmerching the honor of our entire military and who is the biggest source of demoralization for our troops in harm’s way around today, for that to the military.
    Thank Murtha

From U.S. Labor Against the War

We encourage all USLAW affiliates, members and contacts to follow the lead of this initiative by USLAW affiliate SEIU District 1199P. Many Democrats are running scared away from Murtha. It is important to contact your local Democratic members of Congress to tell them they should not just support Murtha, they too should demand an immediate end to the war and occupation of Iraq.

    Brothers and Sisters,

In coordination with US Labor Against the War (USLAW), we are asking key leaders of important labor organizations in PA to join us in making calls to PA Congressman John Murtha to offer our support and encouragement for the courageous position he announced yesterday calling for the withdrawal of US troops from Iraq. Below is a link to his speech:

AOL News - Hawkish Democrat Calls for Immediate Iraq Pullout

Since making his public statement, Congressman Murtha has been under attack by Republicans, and many of his Democratic colleagues are distancing themselves from his position. He needs to know that we support his position and will stand with him.

    Congressman Murtha phone numbers are:

    Washington DC - (202) 225-2065
    Johnstown, PA - (814) 535-2642

    In Solidarity,
    Thomas V. De Bruin
    President

I got a better idea. Why don’t the rest of us Patriots call Murtha and tell him he is a political opportunist for picking of all weekends Memorial Day weekend to come out and prejudge Marines. Give Murtha a call and tell him now is not the time to demoralize the troops and propagate slanderous pre-judged charges with out a full investigation.

Tell Murtha what you really think of him and his way of demoralizing our troops at a time of war.

    Washington DC - (202) 225-2065

    Or email him

Sue Jeffers is a Libertarian # (I’ve lost track)

Posted by Andy on 31st May 2006

MDE points out another great point on Jeffers.

In a last ditch attempt to gain access to our convention, Sue Jeffers’ campaign is now trying to distance Ms. Jeffers from the platform of the Libertarian Party of Minnesota.

“It should be noted that Sue Jeffers’ views, while libertarian leaning in many respects do not match up with the Libertarian Party platform in some respects. For example, she is pro-life, and opposes redefining Marriage. ” Source: Dan McGrath, Campaign Manager, Sue Jeffers for Governor

But remember that since Ms. Jeffers has been endorsed by the Libertarian Party of Minnesota, she is bound to support their platform.

Source: Libertarian Party of Minnesota Bylaws:

“8.14.The convention shall require any endorsed candidate to support the Libertarian Party of Minnesota platform.”

Let’s see how well that flies with the GOP Delegates. Against the marriage amendment? Yikes.

And so you don’t forget about Jeffers’ Libertarian connection. She is still listed on the main page of the Libertarian Party on Minnesota’s Website.

Libertarian Gubernatoril Candidate Sue Jeffers on the Campaign Trail
Small business owner Sue Jeffers has been campaigning across the state at schools, debates, bars, gun shows, tax rallies, radio shows, and much more.

“I am running for governor because people are fed up with the two-party system and voters want an alternative choice that truly represents them. My neighbors, co-workers, friends, family and the public have been ignored. I will be their voice in this election.”

Oh and on the Candidates Page

    Featured 2006 Candidates

    LPMN 2006 Convention News
    - Sue Jeffers receives party endorsement for Governor, but seeks Republican Party endorsement - Website

She is still being promoted by the Libertarian party. And another thing, what happened to all the money that Jeffers received from LPMN convention attendees? If they donated to her campaign, their convention fees were waived.

Also, to be endorsed by the Libertarians, she had to be a member.

To be a member you have to agree to this.

    1. Purpose

The purpose of the Libertarian Party of Minnesota shall be to function primarily as a political party to elect people to political office in order to achieve the values in the Statement of Principles. Its secondary purpose is educational work for the same goal.

    2. Statement of Principles

We, the members of the Libertarian Party of Minnesota, hold that all individuals have the right to exercise sole dominion over their own lives, and oppose the initiation of force or fraud as a means of achieving political or social goals. We are dedicated to the right of all individuals to live in whatever manner they choose, as long as they do not forcibly interfere with the right of others to live as they choose. Governments throughout history, including our own, have operated on the principle that the state has the right to control the lives of individuals and confiscate the fruits of their labor. All other political parties in this country grant government these powers. We, however, hold that governments, when instituted, have only one legitimate function: to protect the rights of the individual.

We challenge the concept that governments have the right to become involved in any activity not directly related to the protection of individual rights. Governments should exist only to ensure the right to free speech and action, the right to own property, and the right to engage in voluntary contractual arrangements with other individuals. No individual should be forced by the State, or another person, to relinquish any portion of his or her life or property for the benefit of another person.

    Sue Jeffers is a Libertarian!

    Operation Smear

Posted by Andy on 30th May 2006

The DFL is wetting themselves over a recent poll that claims Americans hate Bush, or something like that, might as well.

What is the cause of this malaise spreading across the country? Well, for the past five years, we’ve had to deal with executive spying , special interest groups setting national agendas , and widespread corruption from the Republican Party .

Oh yeah, and a Vice President with an itchy trigger finger. But, believe it or not, this has been the least of their problems.

Maybe that is because for the past 6 years you Democrats have stood on the opposite side of the GOP on every single issue. You let teh GOP run with it, but stuck a stick in the spokes as soon as they got going. They’d fall down, you’d run to a camera, scream your list of complaints, and then go home. The public is getting sick of all the sticks and stones, but no mortar.

Attack attack attack. That is all the DFL can do. You have one solution for every issue. It’s the Republicans fault. That ain;t a solution. Oh I forgot, you have 2. Raise taxes, that solves everything.

The biggest problem with the Democrats’ mission ‘Operation Smear’, is that they too are knee deep in it. Democrats are just as corrupt, they do the same things. So laugh it up over there on the Left. Watch those poll numbers keep falling, and think that is some sort of approval of your agenda. Operation Smear.

Sen Reid, Sen. Clinton’s aid/fundraiser, oil for food, pro-illegal immigration, socialist policies that are un-American, Rep. Jefferson and his freezer, Michael Moore, Jimmy Carter’s Iran, etc etc

Oh yeah, you guys have a great track record now don’t you?

    (Sleep deprived rant)

    Update:
I didn’t see the word malaise before. You have got to be kidding me. The economy is growing at 5%. The stores were fricking packed yesterday. The roads were packed yesterday. There is no malaise. What’s next from the brainless communications/research department over at the DFL? Misery index flashcards for the 4th of July road trip. That is one hell of a plan to offer as an alternative. Yeah, those guys suck. Yeah. Vote for us. Real winners, I mean whiners!

It Ain’t Your Father’s Europe Anymore

Posted by Andy on 30th May 2006

Is this the type of ‘more spohisticated’ behavior the US should strive for?

AMSTERDAM (Reuters) - Dutch pedophiles are launching a political party to push for a cut in the legal age for sexual relations to 12 from 16 and the legalization of child pornography and sex with animals, sparking widespread outrage.

Thanks but no thanks. If that is the road to sophistication, I’m staying right where I am.
