Here’s another Sue Jeffers for Governor email. This one is from February 27, 2006.
This is a Special Alert from the Sue Jeffers for Governor Campaign!
Recently volunteers from the Sue Jeffers campaign received emails back from MPR stating that Sue cannot be on the air until after the primary. But Independence Party candidate Peter Hutchinson has been a guest on MPR. Democrat candidate Kelly Doran will be on the radio on MPR tomorrow. Sue wants equal treatment!
Tell Minnesota Public Radio that you want to hear more about the Sue Jeffers for Governor campaign.
Here is a sample letter, but please create your own, and be polite. Please include your full name and city.
It would like to hear Gubernatorial Candidate Sue Jeffers on “Meet The Candidate” or other MPR programs. I understand Peter Hutchinson, Kelly Doran and other candidates have been on MPR. It would only be fair to include the Libertarian Candidate Sue Jeffers as a guest on your program.

Personally I’m not afraid of anything with regard to Jeffers.
Again, dance with the one that brung ya.
She didn’t do that… she doesn’t get to enjoy the party.
If she had gone to the Republican Party and stayed with the republican Party… I wouldn’t be making this post right now.

Nothing, but the time to run as a Republican has passed. She embraced the Libertarians and has spent the entire time attacking Republicans at every chance. She is only doing this now to get attention.
Someone else said it somewhere, that if she would agree to not run if she doesn’t get endorsed, I may be ok with that, but all she is doing is trying to make her name known in this so she can run in the general as a Libertarian.
That is not what the Republican Party is for.
I know why people want her to get involved, but you all should have done so much much earlier. Caucus is over. That is where it begins. PERIOD. It sucks, but it is the way it works.
Now is not the time for Jeffers to come in and demand anything from a Party she has been attacking for months and months.
Personal grudges should be settled on private time, not official Party member’s.

I tend to agree with the idea that Sue’s not entitled to party assests like mailing lists and delegate lists. But if a district convention follows it rules and wants her to speak, why not? King’s on point — What are Republicans afraid of? Sue’s fiscal conservative challenge either makes Pawlenty’s moderate position stronger, or it ain’t much of a position to begin with. God forbid the Republican Party should have a “referendum” on the governor’s race.

How often does an incumbent politician get challenged for their own party nomination if they haven’t done anything grossly wrong or illegal? I can’t think of a time.
So why on earth would Sue have just UP and tried to beat the hell out of Pawlenty right away? The party wouldn’t have that. It’s not really accepted to challenge a politician in that manner. It’s just not done.
Sue is a mutt. She’s a Libertarian-influenced Republican. Let’s do a comparison of Pawlenty’s track record and the Republican Party platform. Now….. he seems to be a RINO to me. Look at his stance on Publicly funded stadiums… or legislation like the Clean Water Legacy Act. He wants to play the nice guy, the green-friendly guy…. He’s a phony.
…..Or as they say… A POLITICIAN!
Fortunately for Minnesota voters, one of their own is sick of the old routine and is ready to oust the VP wannabe.

How often does an incumbent politician get challenged for their own party nomination if they haven’t done anything grossly wrong or illegal?
What did Arne Carlson do that was grossly wrong or illegal? I know that it’s been 12 years, so refresh my memory please.
It’s not really accepted to challenge a politician in that manner. It’s just not done.
No, not in the last 11 years at least.

Craig, I haven’t heard anything that would imply that Jeffers couldn’t follow the rules and get a chance to speak. If they had, you would think that she and her supporters would have made a compelling point proving it. Sadly, all I’ve heard them say is that she was denied access to the party’s delegate list followed by a lot of grandstanding. Not very compelling, to say the least.

The Republican party extended an offer of full assistance to Sue Jeffers if she chose to run for another office (ie, would provide her the delegates list, and access to conventions), but says’ she’s not a Republican when it comes to the governor’s race. I’d say that’s pretty compelling. Techinically, the Republican party has NO candidate for governor at this point. As far as “having to start at the caucuses,” that’s just ridiculous. The party is still trying to recruit candidates for various offices this election. Oops! I guess they came too late. The party wants a good field of competitive candidates for every race except governor. And, as for the rules, Carey has seen to it that they have been changed to make Jeffers campaign even more difficult. This is all about protecting Pawlenty at any cost. I think Pawlenty wants to be Vice President. Carey wants that too. How much would you like to be personal friends with the Vice President of the United States? Enough to use your power and influence to make sure no potential threat, no matter how big or small gets in the way of that possibility, perhaps. No challenger means no democracy. The cutrain is lifted, and the real power in the Republican party isn’t with the delegates. It’s with Ron Carey.

I see all your efforts to point out that she is in the Libertarian Party. I must have missed the posting where you address her fiscal platforms and why Pawlenty is the better fiscal candidate.
More directly, Will you support a motion on the floor to allow her to address the convention…or is the GOP really less about “the best conservative” and more about “exclusive good ol’ boys club”?
