We need your help to send two emails. First, MPR published an article reporting that Democrat Kelly Doran has left the race. MPR stated “The major Democratic candidates remaining are Attorney General Mike Hatch, state Sen. Steve Kelley of Hopkins and Sen. Becky Lourey of Kerrick. Former Gov. Jesse Ventura’s Independence Party is backing consultant Peter Hutchinson.” Where’s Sue? Email MPR and tell them they left out Sue Jeffers: mail@mpr.org Zogby conducted a poll this week that asked who you would vote for in Minnesota. They also didn’t include Sue Jeffers. Send them an email at: comments@zogby.com When responding please CC the campaign (info@suejeffers.org). Usually this gets their attention, plus it helps us know who is emailing. 2) Make a Donation of $15 to the Sue Jeffers Campaign and attend the LPMN Convention for FREE! You need to differentiate between “seeking an endorsement of party X” and “is an Xer.” Those are not the same thing. I am a libertarian, perhaps more so than Sue Jeffers, but I would run as a Republican. We don’t carry cards in America identifying our party.

She registered her Gubernatorial campaign as Libertarian, not Republican. I note your distinction, but I don’t see her move as equal to your situation.

The Libertarians support Sue, and support her campaign. They have been insturmental in getting Sue’s campaign off the ground. All that says, is they believe that Jeffers is the best choice for governor this election season. I’m a republican, and I agree that Jeffers is the best choice this season. Republicans should be looking for the best candidate for governor, not the person with the most high ranking republican connections. Here’s a question for Republicans who oppose Jeffers because of connections with the Libertarian Party. If A pro-life, pro-2nd Amendment, tax-lowering, limited government DEMOCRAT was running against a tax-and spend, gun control, pro-choice “moderate” Republican, who would you vote for? Do principles even matter anymore, or is it all about power for “the party” whatever the cost?

The Republican party today is the party of Tim Pawlenty. If you don’t like it you have two choices, work within the frame of the Republican Party to change it, or find a new party.
By running as a Libertarian Sue decided option #2 was a good idea, and at the same time decided she wasn’t willing to deal with the rules that the Republican Party (like all major parties in this state) have in place regarding cross endorsement.

So you can only run under one party banner and there can be no cross-endorsement. Very nice rules this state has.

I believe candidates can be endorsed from other parties. I think that’s why Sue is seeking the GOP endorsement. In some parties like the LP, they can only endorse candidates from within the party. This isn’t the case for the GOP.

umm…. someone correct me if I’m wrong…… but aren’t politicians supposed to be the elected folk that we, as a city, county, state, or country elect to represent us?
Someone tell me how Sue Jeffers running would make this state go to Hell?
Now, someone tell me what other BS could happen if Pawlenty was reelected for a second 4-year term? Well, one thing’s for sure……. If McCain runs for Pres. and Pawlenty’s his VP, better believe that T-Paw will leave MN for Washington within 2 years of getting elected then. Why would we want to reelect him and go through all the work, if he’s said he’d leave?
Someone make some sense please!!

Jeffers does not have an official endorsement from any party. The Libertarians like her, and voted to endorse her, but she hasn’t accepted it.
Jeffers isn’t trying to change the rules of the Republican Party. She sought delegate access the same way any candidate would. The party is still recruiting candidates for some state offices. The party has changed the rules to exclude Sue.
Part of Pawlenty’s path to a potential Vice-Presidency would include his party’s continued support and endorsement. Losing the general election, or losing his party’s endorsment would hamper his future political ambitions. Carey apparently doesn’t want to take any chances of that happening. Think about This: How much would you like to be buddies with the Vice President of the Unites States of America?
As I understand, party officials were happy to extend a welcoming embrace to Jeffers if she wanted to run for some other office. Just not Governor. Now, she isn’t republican “enough.”

Jeffers doesn’t have an official LP endorsement. Tim Pawlenty also hasn’t raised taxes, and he won’t be doing so when he signs the Twins stadium bill.
All Sue has to do is promise the Republicans that if she doesn’t get the endorsement she will drop out of the race. They have no problem endorsing a candidate first as they did with Dave Klies in 2002 when he was cross endorsed it’s when they have to endorse a candidate 2nd that they have the problem.

Pawlenty makes me sick - he is one of the many “conservatives” that have made the Republican party sink. Sue Jeffers is just the opposite. She is a true fiscal conservative, but she believes in individual liberty. Her ideals are American ideals embodied. I truly hope she is able to get onto the GOP ticket. If not, hopefully Minnesota will have another 3rd party governor. Those of you sick of Minnesota being ranked 10th in most taxes, vote for Sue and support her campaign!

(Okay, try this again. Durn hotmeal.)
“Those of you sick of Minnesota being ranked 10th in most taxes, vote for Sue and support her campaign.”
Yeah, shoot for number three or four, right?
(Great. Pawlenty, while not accomplishing everything the hard-core conservatives want - nay, DEMAND!! - has managed to put real brakes on the shrinking of my pay and assets. However, because they didn’t get EVERYTHING they demanded, the loony hard-core is now going to work to bring the DFL back into power.)
Great work, people. When ya’all feel good in a few years because you “stood up for what you wanted”, could you please mail me a few thousand bucks, so I don’t have to be the one to pay the bill for your personal pique?

Well stated, Bobby B. I believe this is called “cutting off your nose to spite your face.”
