  • Jeffers For GOP Guv?

Posted by Andy on April 22nd, 2006

Way back when, I had a little birdy whisper in my ear that Sue Jeffers was going to go for the Governor’s seat. When I talked to her to confirm, she said that she was going to go for the GOP nod. Then she cozied up with the Libertarian party and got their nod. (Truth be told, she is a member of the Libertarian Party.)

Everyone thought I was a nutter, and the weeks that I kept the secret, caused people to start to hate me.

Well, Jeffers is trying to make a run for the GOP nod now, but it may be too late.

A feisty bar owner named Sue Jeffers has suddenly emerged as a challenger to Gov. Tim Pawlenty for Republican Party endorsement.

She faces just one big obstacle: Top party officials say Jeffers is not a real Republican and are blocking her attempts to participate in the process.

Since she has staffed her campaign largely with Libertarians, and she is the Libertarian endorsed candidate, I have to say it is too late to try for the GOP nod. I agree that the GOP cannot let another Party’s endorsed candidate access to the convention. Think about it, would it be ok for Pawlenty to run for the DFL endorsement? Should the GOP give Delegate lists to the DFlers?

    Common sense would say no.

We definately do not need another Jeffers muddying up the GOP process. Does anyone remember Sam?
