Sick Day & Katrina Question
Posted by Andy on February 10th, 2006
It is a sick day here at RF. The common cold has finally struck me down. So I’m home, and I was just making French Toast while observing once again that there is nothing good on TV.
So I have been watching the testimony by Michael Brown on Katrina. It is really just revoting. OK, that is a lie.
The one question that I would love to see asked, but never will is:
What could have been done to prevent the flooding and destruction in New Orleans?
The answer of course is nothing. The levies were going to break. Period. They were built long before the Department of Homeland Security was ever dreamt up.
The failure of a giant federal bureaucracy should be no surprise folks. Do you really expect that the same government (who BTW you don’t want to know a bit of info about you, IE don’t spy on me) can know exactly where you all are, and that they can swoop in and save your ass whenever you need them to.
This should be an example of why we should fear Big government. It cannot do everything for everyone. The fact that everyone now thinks it is government’s role to do exactly that, terrifies the crap out of me.
Back to bed now.
