My initial response is $! Kaching!!!! $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
I only heard parts of it, and the reactions by ABC News radio, as I was driving during it. I thought there was a fine Democratic response laid out by none other than ABC’s Anne Compton (or who ever is teh White House Correspondant).
I heard most of teh domestic part of the speech, and the Democrats should be extactic.
I hope Bush was trying to extend the olive branch to the Dems once again so that the public will see that the Dems refuse to take it. He has been far too cooperative with a group of people whose sole purpose in life is to stop Bush from accomplishing anything. He propsed a bunch of crap that if proposed by Madame Hillary, would have been the best ideas ever, but they are being poopooed because Bush said it.
Proof positive of this was when Bush mentioned his Social Security reform was blocked last year and the Democrats all stood up and cheered.
The party of obstruction has one purpose, OBSTRUCTION. Plain and simple. This had better be part of a master plan to out the Dems to the public for what they really are, not some new Bush agenda of giving in to the Democrats.
My reaction to the official (English) Democrat response was it is the new Clinton. Same hand motions. Same eyebrow deal. Same smirk. He and teh Dems have a better way? OK what is it? Oh yeah, just not Bush. That ain’t a way.

That “Kaching” sound is one of the reasons I do not watch the SotU. It is worse than tinitus.
