Andy, I will agree with your statement, but what is a larger factor is tht lack of comunication Pawlenty has had with the Republican Senate and House Caucuses, which is none, and his communications with the any of the Senate/House/County leadership is even less!!!

A leader at any level, is only as good as the people surrounding them. In the case of the Govenor, he needs to look beyond his "advisors" telling him only thier own personal opinions, and talk to the people doing the work.

I would remind the Govenor and every single elected Republican of one simple fact: The party was here before them and will still be here after they are all gone. We gave you our endorsement and got you elected.
I hope they all will remember that we can find plenty of others willing to take our endorsement and our support in November.

It really does not matter who elected him. Now he is shaping himself into a moderate. The question is not really who voted for him before because he ran as a conservative. Sure, I accept he had the support of centrists. He did that as a conservative. The issue is that he is not the same person he was 4 years ago. And you know who is NOT voting for him? The base.

You think he could have looked back at what Bush senior did..."Read my lips"...and learned from that. Alas, instead he is just going to repeat the mistake.

I sure as heck hope not, but my fear is that Pawlenty is "going native".

You say Pawlenty was elected by "conservatives." I disagree. He was elected by "conservatives" along with a big pile of "centrics". Without those "centrics", he was dead in the water.

I suggest that your path and paradigm will result, not in a small government, but a small role in government for us conservatives. This is Minnesota. We do need to compromise in order to have any effect.

Ditto...and just to give a face to the example, the tax code in this state may actually push us to move elsewhere as we found out we are in the top 20% income earners...somehow 2 above average jobs in this state is in the top quintile.

The tax code is already oppressive enough that I will be turning down a promotion because it would result in us having a LOWER net income.

The days in Minnesota may be coming to an end...and Pawlenty sure as hell ain't the answer to keeping our contribution to growth in this state.
