The connection, finally in print. New York Times Story & Sen. Democrats (and spineless Republicans) blocking the Patriot Act.
Senate opponents claim the Patriot Act, even under the compromise version, still infringes on the rights of American citizens.
That viewpoint gained energy after news reports disclosed earlier in the week that the National Security Agency had eavesdropped on U.S. citizens and foreign nationals in the United States since 2002, under a secret order signed by President Bush.
(emphasis mine)
So, meddling with Senate proceedings is the new way for the Times to ‘make’ news. (I know I know, old tricks for them)
“The moral depravity of this administration in the name of national security or in the name of fighting the war against terrorists is just appalling,” Dayton told Minnesota reporters during a Dec. 16 press conference.
“It is becoming apparent it is systematic. It is widespread, and I fear that what we know now is just the tip of the iceberg.”
I wonder if that “secret intelligence” that caused Dayton to flee DC last Christmas was gathered from such eavesdropping?
Here’s a hypothetical about his DC Flee:
What if there had been an attack, and Dayton’s life and staffers would have been saved from that intelligence, but it was gathered in the matter that he has just admonished? Would he think it was “morally depraved” if it saved his life?

Shocking, the DFL engaging in voter intimidation and disenfranchisement. Minnesota Democrats Exposed has the details.
The latest DFL Dispatch is claiming Kay Ek cannot run for the House of Representatives in HD 15B.
While Kay Ek will not appear on the ballot, she is running for the seat. Any legal voter in HD 15B can write-in Kay Ek’s name on their ballot. Only at the end of the DFL Dispatch does it say Kay Ek is waging a write-in campaign. Why then does the DFL say Kay Ek can’t run?
Frankly, I’m not at all surprised. The DFL was stunned that the GOP was able to correct the error of Sue Ek and find a new candidate. They thought they had already won that election, as usual they used the courts, rather than the ballot boxes to win. But in a stunning final round comeback, Kay Ek (Sue’s Mom) entered the ring.
Kay Ek is able to be voted for in St. Cloud. Her name can be written in.
House District 15B voters, the name to write in is Kay Ek.
Don’t let the DFL tell you anything different.

Sadly this is becoming all too common. 2 People were shot at a Wendy’s on W. Lake Street.
Two people were shot Thursday night in Minneapolis after one or more suspects fired several rounds from a semiautomatic weapon into a Wendy’s restaurant on the 200 block of W. Lake Street.
I wonder if it was a permit holder or a legally purchased weapon?
A mix of bullet holes and shards of glass were concentrated near the windows of the restaurant’s side doors. In the hours after the shooting, police left more than a dozen markers along the drive-through exit indicating where bullet casings were found.
It must be so much fun to live in Minneapolis. I mean, it is not in every US city that one can witness, first hand, what gang wars are really like. Drive-by’s, murders, random violent crimes, burglary, and drugs. Man I envy you all.
It is unclear how many shooters there were or whether the victims were their intended targets, though it did appear that the shooting was not random, Reinhardt said.
There were no suspects in custody.
I wonder if they have a list of suspects. Maybe the perps have a history of violent crime and gang activity. Hmmmm?

Now it was a terrific commute this morning. No traffic, all the yahoos who put on their make-up, read the paper, or text message while driving must have the day off.
Not Me!

Now, I do only have a half day today. But then I have to go start my Christmas shopping, so I’d rather have a full day.
But then again, I’m not a US Senator.

This was a letter to the editor published in the Sun Focus.
Perhaps now that the schools have won yet another property tax increase from the residents of Columbia Heights they will discontinue the practice of sending child laborers door-to-door selling useless trinkets in an effort to raise money.
Well said.

I am in a terribly cranky mood. So, I will be going to Keegan’s tonight to lose at some trivia and win at getting drunk. (kidding about the drunk part)

So for all you little brat-like liberal business hating anti-American anti-war anti-oil putrid swine, come on down and face me head on rather than hide.
Same goes to anyone who hates my guts for posting “secrets”.
Come on down to Keegan’ Irish Pub and try to piss me off a little more why don’t you? Come to rant, stay for the beer.
I should be there around 7 PM.

Hurray, we haven’t surrendered yet.
The House has passed a 1 month extension for the Patriot Act.
Earlier today the Senate passed a 6 month extension.
So now what? Well, the Senate has to come back to approve the one month version. Oh, I’m sure the Democrats in the Senate will be livid. By gosh, don’t those pesky House Members know that the Senate controls the World? Better question yet: How does all this political wrangling look to our foreign enemies?

Does this guy sound like he is in Baghdad or DC?
“The White House lies once more,” Hussein said, “the number-one liar in the world. They said in Iraq, there is chemicals, and there is a relation to terrorism, and they announced later we couldn’t find any of that in Iraq.
Think he can get one of those ‘Bush Lied’ bumper stickers in Arabic?
“We don’t lie,” he said. “The White House lies.”
I have a question for the Democrats: Is it embarrassing to have one of America’s enemies quoting you?
