    Joe Wilson - Pre Iraq

Posted by Andy on 25th October 2005

The following are snip its from an interview that Joe Wilson had done with Bill Moyers before the Iraq Invasion. In the light of the media’s assertion that Bush lied and we were led to believe that there was no other reason to remove Saddam, I submit this to you.

MOYERS: So you’re saying that it is important to enforce United Nations resolutions.

    WILSON: Absolutely.

MOYERS: You think war is inevitable?

WILSON: I think war is inevitable. Essentially, the speech that the President gave at the American Enterprise Institute was so much on the overthrow of the regime and the liberation of the Iraqi people that I suspect that Saddam understands that this is not about disarmament.

    ahem Liberation!

WILSON: Well, that’s a — I think that’s a very good question. I think that there is a sense in the administration that the time has run out for Saddam Hussein and the only way that they can achieve the disarmament objective that they want is to go in. But more importantly…

MOYERS: And you agree with that, don’t you?

WILSON: Well, no, I don’t think that that’s the only way. That’s where I disagree. I mean, I think that there are several other steps that can be taken before you have to go to total war for the purposes of achieving disarmament.

    MOYERS: Coercive…

WILSON: But I think disarmament is only one of the objectives. And the President has touched repeatedly and more openly on the other objectives in recent speeches including this idea of liberating Iraq and liberating its people from a brutal dictator. And I agree that Saddam Hussein is a brutal dictator.

And I agree along with everybody else that the Iraqi people could — would well be far better off without Saddam Hussein. The problem really is a war which has us invading, conquering and then subsequently occupying Iraq may not achieve that liberation that we’re talking about.

MOYERS: So this is not just about weapons of mass destruction.

WILSON: Oh, no, I think it’s far more about re-growing the political map of the Middle East.

MOYERS: So this is not just about weapons of mass destruction.

WILSON: Oh, no, I think it’s far more about re-growing the political map of the Middle East.

    MOYERS: What does that mean?

WILSON: Well, that basically means trying to install regimes in the Middle East that are far more friendly to the United States — there are those in the administration that call them democracies. Somehow it’s hard for me to imagine that a democratic system will emerge out of the ashes of Iraq in the near term. And when and if it does, it’s hard for me to believe that it will be more pro-American and more pro-Israeli than what you’ve got now.

MOYERS: Tell me what you think about the arguments of one of those men, Richard Perle, who is perhaps the most influential advocate in the President’s and the administration’s ear arguing to get rid of Saddam Hussein. What do you think about his argument?

WILSON: Well, he’s certainly the architect of a study that was produced in the mid-’90s for the Likud Israeli government called “a clean break, a new strategy for the realm.” And it makes the argument that the best way to secure Israeli security is through the changing of some of these regimes beginning with Iraq and also including Syria. And that’s been since expanded to include Iran.

WILSON: Well, that basically means trying to install regimes in the Middle East that are far more friendly to the United States

MOYERS: So this was drawn up during the ’90s…

WILSON: Right. During the ’90s, absolutely.

MOYERS: By men outside of all this?

WILSON: Outside of all this, yeah.

    MOYERS: And…

WILSON: Now, Richard Perle’s been outside of office since the Reagan years.

MOYERS: And this, you’re saying that this has become a blueprint for the Bush Administration?

WILSON: Well, I think this is part of what has been the underpinning of the– of the philosophical argument that calls for basically radically changing the political dynamics in the Middle East and…

    MOYERS: To favor Israel?

WILSON: Well, to favor American national security interests and Israeli national security interests which are tied. I mean, we have…

    MOYERS: How so?

WILSON: We have an important strategic responsibility to ensure the territorial integrity of Israel. It’s one that we’ve accepted since 1948. It’s one that’s been increasingly close. There are those who believe that perhaps we’ve confused our responsibilities with the slavish adherence to the Likud strategy.

MOYERS: And this, you’re saying that this has become a blueprint for the Bush Administration?

WILSON: Well, I think this is part of what has been the underpinning of the– of the philosophical argument that calls for basically radically changing the political dynamics in the Middle East and…

    Ringer’s Alive!

Posted by Andy on 25th October 2005

Call back the rescue party. First Ringer wasn’t drawn and quartered and buried in the back lot blacklisted by his poshy silver screen friends.

Just kidding. But the man child of the KvM quartet is back to posting.

Millionaire/failed US Senate candidate/ Soccer Coach kicked off a $500,000 ad buy, focusing mainly on cable television outlets. When it comes to cable advertisements, $500,000 goes a long way. Expect to see his ads every commercial break for the next couple weeks. The ad leaves a lot to be desired…maybe Doran is regretting taking on John Wodele.

    Head Still Spinning

Posted by Andy on 25th October 2005

These 12 hours on the move days are getting to me. After a hectic day at work, my day/night wasn’t over yet.

Good Park Board meeting, short and painless.

I tried to go see my Grandma afterwards, since I was free earlier than I thought, but after driving the 20 miles down to see her, I found out they lock the doors at 8PM. I’ll try to get down to see her tomorrow, but it will be tough, I have another busy day.

A side from work, I have a meeting in the morning to learn how to manipulate my BPOU’s website SD51.

I then have a super special secret engagement at noon. Details to come.

I’m also going to be waiting for a call that has me pretty darn excited. Details to come if I receive it.

The 6th CD GOP Forum I am setting up is coming along swimmingly. I have gotten a sponsor for the event. The menu (ie FREE LUNCH) is being hashed out. And All 4 candidates have confirmed. I’ve gotten the moderator for the event, you will all be quite pleased with him. I will be making the formal announcement & press release later this week, or early next week.

I’ve been in contact with the Congressional District leadership now, and they are grateful that I am making this happen. It should be quite an event
November 12th, 11 to 2, the Mermaid in Mounds View. Be there!

    RF’s Busted Email

Posted by Andy on 25th October 2005

My email is weird. I get some, but not others. If you have been trying to send me something, and I did not respond, please try again.

This also affects comments, so if you are waiting for me to tear you apart ideologically, I will get right to that after my Park Board meeting tonight.

Facts Please -When Did She Leave CIA?

Posted by Andy on 25th October 2005

OK, here is the one thing I cannot find an answer to.

When did Valerie Plame leave the CIA?

This is the most crucial fact in this case. Because if she left her covert status before July 14th 1998, this entire media swarm is pointless. Her identity is only protected for 5 years.

If she hadn’t worked covertly since July 1998, there is no crime.

    RF power outage

Posted by Andy on 25th October 2005

RF is on the fritz. We have a gremlin in our power at work. I have no web access, besides my phone. I’ll be back when the power is fixed. It is odd, half our buding works, half doesn’t.

    Her Name Was Freedom, RIP

Posted by Andy on 24th October 2005

Seems the FEC will soon be cracking down on Freedom of Speech, not by choice, but JUDICIAL mandate.

WASHINGTON - The Federal Election Commission must begin work on writing tougher campaign finance rules to govern the 2006 elections after a federal appeals court declined to intervene in a challenge.

In a one-page order, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit declined to reconsider a decision requiring the FEC to write new rules to carry out a 2002 campaign finance law.

What was that bill called? Oh yeah MCCAIN/FEINGOLD. And you both want to run for President?

Commissioner Michael Toner said Friday’s order means the FEC must start drafting tougher rules on political donations, including how Internet activity will be regulated. The FEC could still appeal to the Supreme Court, but has not indicated whether it will do so.

So in otherwords, this new vehicle for informing the public, known as the blogosphere will soon be crushed under the boot of big brother, in a black robe.

No No No, I am MDE

Posted by Andy on 24th October 2005

So we’re back to this old thing? I am MDE.

    Reluctantly Exposing Minnesota Democrats Exposed

    Reluctantly my arse.

This is from DFLBlog. They claim to have a screen shot that proves MDE’s identity. That’s not the problem, the screen shot has their Safari Menu bar which has some of their own bookmarked links displayed. These are the ones they read on a regular basis.

    Aha! Look what I found.

They read Andrew Sullivan. Credibility lost!

Secondly, and even more damning, they said this:

I want to thank Eva Young and her wonderful blog for making the allegation…

Game set and match, zero cred. Eva Young is not the proprietor of a great blog.

Actually, who cares who MDE is, he/she is blowing holes in the DFL. Once again, we see the left can only try to fear, intimidate, or incriminate their opponents. They cannot win a battle of ideas, so they must launch campaigns of personal attacks and blog threats. They must post home addresses in comments, home addresses, not emails.

This little deal here is little more than proof that the DFL and lefties are terrified of actually going through a campaign while some one is actually trying to expose them. They’ve had a free ride from the local media for far too long. 2006 will be the year of reality based elections. The DFL will not run free next year. We are watching them. And the people are reading what we write.

I for one stand with M.D.E. You cannot intimidate me.

    Global War on Terror

Posted by Andy on 24th October 2005

    Get it? Global.

It is disappointing to know that YOU have been duped by the media and the left into believing that Iraq was/is “wrong”.

Here’s the secret to understanding the War on Terror

    1. Take out a globe
    2. Locate Iraq
    3. Identify the terrorist sponsoring nation(s) to the West of Iraq (hint: East of Israel)
    4. Identify the terrorist sponsoring nation to the East of Iraq (hint: it is West of Afghanistan)

It is called a beachhead. Get it yet?

    Strategy, ever heard of it?

This is not a 20 minute fire fight that will just go away because we are tired of it. Live or die? Make a choice.

Here’s a map, see if you can figure this out. It is awfully darn hard.

    jee wiz
