Words To Live By
"The era of small government is over ... government has to be more proactive, more aggressive." ( Tim Pawlenty 2006)

"You're just petty politicians, who'd sooner sign onto the wisdom of a tyrant in another country, than the demands of ticked off voters in your own." (Neil Cavuto June 2008)

“I didn’t question her patriotism. I questioned her judgment.” Mr. Cheney went on: “The point I made and I’ll make it again is that Al Qaeda functions on the basis that they think they can break our will. That’s their fundamental underlying strategy, that if they can kill enough Americans or cause enough havoc, create enough chaos in Iraq, then we’ll quit and go home. And my statement was that if we adopt the Pelosi policy, that then we will validate the strategy of Al Qaeda. I said it, and I meant it.” (Vice President Cheney NYT Feb. 2007)

"A political party cannot be all things to all people. It must represent certain fundamental beliefs which must not be compromised to political expediency, or simply to swell its numbers. (Ronald Reagan March 1, 1975)

"Oh, no! First of all, if I took one vote away from a serious candidate, it would be a sin." (Al Franken Time Magazine, 9/1/03)

Bachmann Reaction to Yecke Announcement, Plus others

It really pays to be a delegate in the 6th, you all should move here.

Michele Bachmann just called me, yep. She wanted to make sure that I had heard about Yecke’s announcement. (my earlier post)

She had just gotten off the phone with the Strib, and who was her next call? Yep Me.

Enough, I know.

I asked Michele for some reactions.

  • She was very shocked.
  • Cheri was a very serious and hard working candidate.
  • It will definately change the dynamic of the race.
  • Michele thinks this is fabulous for Cheri.
  • She is very happy for her, and the two will be getting together for lunch soon.

According to Michele, the job Cheri is taking in Florida is the exact same one as when she first came to Minnesota.

This will definately shake up the delegate counts. I’m sure that the scramble has begun to collect the free delegates. I’m committed to not committing myself until at least January, but it never hurts to ask.

Updated:
You can get great coverage of the whole thing at Republican MN.

And even Captain Fishsticks has something timely to say on this.

So does Mitch.

The rumors posted by Draft Pawlenty on this prove true. Yecke was having trouble raising funds.

Or she got a heck of a better job offer than just another Congress(wo)man.

  3. Eva Young says:

King Banaian says it’s a lower level position than she had in Minnesota.

  4. triple_a says:

I’m not saying anything about her new job.

How many Republican Congressmen can you name that don’t live in MN? They’re a dime a dozen.Congress would be a demotion for a talented education mind like Yecki.

In order for a member of Conress to be meaningful, they need seniority, and I don’t think Yecke wants to fight 2-3 tough elections over the next 3-5 years to bide her time for the US Ed Sec job (as Gary thinks).

  5. [...] Cheri: first Florida, then the nation Andy Adds: Michele Bachmann just contacted me and is almost as elated as Gary and wishes Cheri well too. For more you can check here. [...]

Eva, Even a blind squirrel finds an acorn every now and then. (Someday you may even find your acorn…not ACORN).

Triple_a is exactly right…she got a guaranteed job (at least more of a guarantee than running for a contended nomination for an open seat in Congress).

  7. mnrepublican says:

There are a lot of mistruths going on about her departure. First, she wasn’t having problems with fundraising at all and second, the job in Florida is in charge of the exact same stuff she was doing in Minnesota at the Education department, and for a lot more money too.

  8. triple_a says:

Yes, the short swords are out, and the wolves smell blood.

  9. Eva Young says:

According to Draft Pawlenty (now defunct), when Sen. George Allen did a fundraiser for Yecke it only raised $3000.00 – which is pathetic performance for a high profile person like that.

The Science Education people in Florida aren’t happy with this one – they aren’t interested in having creationism being put into Florida’s science standards.

Please don’t regurgitate your comments from other blogs.

    Repitition does not prove fact.

Besides that is so yesterday’s news.
