Episode 3 - Thumbs Up
Posted by Andy on June 12th, 2005
A few weeks ago, an old friend gave me the money to go see the last Star Wars movie. And since I was mentally drained after yesterday, I went and saw it last night. It was the first time I’ve been to a movie theater in almost 3 0r 4 years. The ‘preview/commercials’ are too long, not for me, but I got tired of the annoying person in front of me counting off how many each one was.
I liked it, but I also liked ALL 6 movies.
If the critics of the Star Wars movies after Ep 4 ( The original), were intellectually honest they’d rip the living heck out of the Lord of the Rings movies. After the first one, the others just bam, started with the plot, no set up. I was the only one alive who didn’t like them.
There were some cheesy moments like Vader screaming at the end. The love stuff could have been cut shorter. I knew what was going to happen to Skywalker, but still I was kept intrigued.
Wisdom wins over rage.
This one was the best of the last three if you ask me. The effects had finally been dialed in so that they weren’t fake looking. By my untrained eye, it even appeared that the actors actually did a little of their own saber rattling, not all CGI. Battle scenes were cool.
Its over now. The whole series. That kinda sucks. I was always a big fan of the series and still am. Hopefully some young writer will pick it up and carry it on. I’m not talking about the between movie stuff that some have done. I remember my brother telling me when I was a youngling that there were supposed to be 3 more after ‘Return of the Jedi’. That would be great, now that we see what the Republic used to be. It would be nice to see it rebuilt.
If you can tell, I’m wiped out after yesterday, and it seems some think I overreacted. I’ll comment later if I can muster the energy.
