Words To Live By
"You're just petty politicians, who'd sooner sign onto the wisdom of a tyrant in another country, than the demands of ticked off voters in your own." (Neil Cavuto June 2008)

“I didn’t question her patriotism. I questioned her judgment.” Mr. Cheney went on: “The point I made and I’ll make it again is that Al Qaeda functions on the basis that they think they can break our will. That’s their fundamental underlying strategy, that if they can kill enough Americans or cause enough havoc, create enough chaos in Iraq, then we’ll quit and go home. And my statement was that if we adopt the Pelosi policy, that then we will validate the strategy of Al Qaeda. I said it, and I meant it.” (Vice President Cheney NYT Feb. 2007)

"A political party cannot be all things to all people. It must represent certain fundamental beliefs which must not be compromised to political expediency, or simply to swell its numbers. (Ronald Reagan March 1, 1975)

"Oh, no! First of all, if I took one vote away from a serious candidate, it would be a sin." (Al Franken Time Magazine, 9/1/03)

Just what team are they on?

Monday, May 23rd, 2005

This is a response from a comment from this post.

Frist wasn’t part of this deal, and no leader can force all party members to vote “his” way. Even Reid lost 7 members.

But Reid got his way. What did Frist get? Tarred!

Anyways, the biggest problem that I have with your plan to withhold donations from conservatives is that this doesn’t hurt moderates. I have given money to candidates around the country, but have never given money to any of the “slimey” seven. Probably not many conservatives have. And I think that’s fine. The moderates will continue to fundraise and continue to win and withholding support from conservatives is not going to change that.

It hurts the moderates by taking away their relevance. If they have to watch what they say and do, they will do so. They get away withit all because we “need” them. But they are never there when we do need them. This was the big issue. Forget that most of the spending on the GOP side came from them. This was a partisan issue and they chose wrong. They must not be coddled. The Senate chose a whimp and they got a wind sock. If the moderates had a real threat that if they bucked the base’s wind, they’d be done for, they wouldn’t do it. If they picked conservatives to lead them they could follow.

I get to vote for my 2 Senators. They get to elect the leadership. They chose poorly and must feel the pain. I will continue to work for conservative candidates, but not the NRSC. They are inept at best. They handpicked this latest crop of newbies, and minus Thune (who gets it) have been swayed by the lifers. Term Limits?????

Moderates will not continue to win if they dare not be moderate. What is a moderate Republican? Really? I’m a little confused. If it votes like a Dem, compromizes liek a Dem, spends like a Dem, It must be a Dem

What we can change is to support conservatives. No, we had never have 67 conservative members in the Senate, but that shouldn’t mean we should “take our ball and go home.” We can’t give up and throw our majority away. That’s just stupid.

What good is a majority if it is doing the mionority’s work?”

I’m not going to, and I hope other conservatives don’t either. Conservatives is the Senate need our support more then ever now.

I haven’t seen a whole lot of conservatism there recently. Are they there? I’m kinda feeling burned. If we can pressure the closet conservatives to play ball by holding their feet the the contribution fire (since that’s all they understand, if the money keeps flowing they doing ok) they may play for our team.
