Words To Live By
"The era of small government is over ... government has to be more proactive, more aggressive." ( Tim Pawlenty 2006)

"You're just petty politicians, who'd sooner sign onto the wisdom of a tyrant in another country, than the demands of ticked off voters in your own." (Neil Cavuto June 2008)

“I didn’t question her patriotism. I questioned her judgment.” Mr. Cheney went on: “The point I made and I’ll make it again is that Al Qaeda functions on the basis that they think they can break our will. That’s their fundamental underlying strategy, that if they can kill enough Americans or cause enough havoc, create enough chaos in Iraq, then we’ll quit and go home. And my statement was that if we adopt the Pelosi policy, that then we will validate the strategy of Al Qaeda. I said it, and I meant it.” (Vice President Cheney NYT Feb. 2007)

"A political party cannot be all things to all people. It must represent certain fundamental beliefs which must not be compromised to political expediency, or simply to swell its numbers. (Ronald Reagan March 1, 1975)

"Oh, no! First of all, if I took one vote away from a serious candidate, it would be a sin." (Al Franken Time Magazine, 9/1/03)

Et Tu Brute?

The MN House of Representatives, was once the only hope some conservatives had at holding back the Left. But it seems that the House seems to have gone WAY off course,

House OKs 10-cent gas tax hike

Say it ain’t so Stevie! I have been annoying everyone that brings up this subject in person. My mother and I have gone back and forth about this. She a bus believer. I say build the darn roads and we can talk about all the feel good crap later. Most people drive a car, so let’s start there. And besides the gigantic, soot dispensing buses travel on the roads too, so fixing congestion will make the buses get there faster. DUH!!!!!

The Minnesota House of Representatives voted early today to raise the state’s gas tax a total of 10 cents between now and 2008, as Democrats banded with a group of moderate Republicans to buck Gov. Tim Pawlenty and Republican leaders.

Plus every golldarn driver in the state who has the nerve to go against the flow and own their own car to provide for themselves a way to get from a to b. You stupid SOBs. You have $30 billion dollars and you actually think us common folks are going to believe you that the only way to fix the road we drive on is to tax us even more? Not only that, but you are going to add another 20 cents to an already oppressive price of gas for roads and oh yeah, “transit”.

Supporters said the plan would raise $7.7 billion for badly needed improvements to the state’s road, bridges and public transportation systems.

There you go MN, they need another few billion dollars in order to help you. We have been so badly betrayed by these jokers in the legislature for years, its amazing we haven’t laid seige on the marble house of all things bad for the populace. The regular taxpayers have known for over a decade that we need to fix the highway system in the Twin Cities. MNDOT has been spending all its money on planning the eutopian highway system instead of building. And the Legislature has been MIA the whole time.

The losers also decided to gouge us when we buy our cars too.

Lawmakers debated the multibillion-dollar roads and transit plan late into the evening. But they approved by a vote of 96-38 an amendment that would increase tab fees an average of $30 a year over the next 11 years, to help meet transportation needs.

To help meet the transporatation needs. How about to build roads you fools?

The increase would raise $740 million over the next decade. It would only apply to new cars purchased after the increase goes into effect.

Perfect, sounds like the exact price tag amount for another LRT boondoggle. I bet they will put an LRT down Highway 65 before they fix the road itself. Of course, the new train would make traffic congestion worse than it was before, but people could stand back and say, “Look at how great the train looks. And it even runs on time.”

A portion of the money raised would go for public transportation projects, money that supporters said is desperately needed.

Ha! I’m a soothsayer. Or Carnack.

“This does not go far enough, but we need to start doing something now,” said Rep. Pat Garofalo, R-Farmington.

Translation: Grab you darn wallet. They want more of your money to do their job. We’re screwed.

With the gas tax stuck at 20 cents a gallon since 1988, groups from across the state have pressured lawmakers all session to find a reliable source of money for road improvements. Studies have shown Minnesota falling behind at least $1 billion a year in funding such need

Then why the heck do they add in the whole “prublic transit” part. If our road funding has been “falling behind”, why are the further draining it by paying for stupid trains?

And since you mentioned stuck since 1988, the highway system has been ignored by you fools since long before then.

The priorities in the MN Legislature are so screwed up. They spend general fund dollars all day. They propose stadiums and casinos all day, and forget about the simple things like roads. What they don’t seem to understand is that people need roads to get to the stadiums. We need roads to get to work to pay our taxes. We need roads to pay for our license tabs. We need roads to take the kids to daycare. We need roads to get to the grocery store. We need roads to go on vacations. We need roads to go to church.

Public transit is fine and all, but it will never be able to transport the entire public. It serves a vital role for a small portion of the entire society. But the rest of us should not suffer from that. We have spent more on public transit than on highways lately. The money spent on Hiawatha could have built a whole new highway instead, plus increased bussing in the area. What did we get instead? Busses cut from the area, and worse traffic congestion than before the LRT was installed.

Just what else is transit going to do? Maybe I’m wrong, but if the cure is worse than the disease, you shouldn’t take the pill.

We also need roads to get to the voting booth, remember that one the next time you advocate stealing from us to pay for your Transit. The regular people in the state are getting tired of being ignored. Start paying attention to us, or you will no longer serve us.
